All of that commotion for the list and now no response? Is my list really that bad?

- Oh, I wouldn't say that Nick. There is a couple species on there I am interested in but I am trying to be kind and let someone else have the opportunity. The green temple when kept manicured would be a great addition to one of my tanks. I have a lot of bronze and red in that tank and this light green would add a nice contrasting splash. And I do not have Willow moss & would be a good addition to some wood like pillars in my 140. So, I'll give it a bit of time since I am a regular taker here...

Same here, I took the last batch so I wouldn't want to grab so soon although the green temple hygrophila is something I would be interested in. If you have a lot of the GT could you PM me but not consider it part of the plant it forward. I also could handle an Amazon sword. Pokesephirtoh got your offering.

We already settled this lastnight. The plant in question was the Green Temple that I gave him a couple weeks back.
hyp3rcrav3: Wes is right. I did not PM him to get Nick_87's offer. So the offer is still up for grabs. Nick_87, was just asking for my help in identifying a plant (Green Temple). So if you're still interested, I would PM him before someone else does. LOL.

I believe I will. It just seems like I should wait but the concensus is that I'm copascetic.

Had green temple (emerse) before no luck. Bought them from tacoma lfs. Didn't know what did wrong but failed. Looked how beautiful submerge type looks.

I didn't claim it earlier because I misunderstood Poke's message. Derp, but it looks like I didn't miss out. Thanks everyone for holding up for a bit!

Re: ::Plant it forward :: a RAOK like post
So as I understand it dnaka595 is claiming Nick_87's list.
Nick and I are going to trade on the PM side for some green temple hygrophila, if there is enough to go around, and jungle val, in exchange for more Bronze Crypt. This is my current understanding.
Are these 2 seperate arrangements or am I going to need to step back out of courtesy?

Haha, thanks for the warm welcome. I don't have much, as I'm a beginner, but I won't need all of those plants since I have a 7-gal tank. I'll put up the ones I don't have room for as the next offering.

Does that work for plant it forward?

Re: ::Plant it forward :: a RAOK like post
Amazon sword is going to outgrow the 7 gallon tank in one season. The idea is to introduce something new or unusual but it is not required. Something everyone wants even if it isn't unusual is fine. Forwarding the last list is not something usually done althought I did add something to my list that was from a previous donar simply because he gave so much. The other thing is you can negotiate and only accept what you need but that is not the most courteous thing to do. You'll get slack instead of flack because you're a newbie.

Without backtracking to the "said" rules or requirements , if remembered correctly there is nothing said about species or quantity, only quality.

Re: ::Plant it forward :: a RAOK like post
I've been watching this project for a while and previous interactions made this seem not only acceptable, but not frowned on at all. There were also a few people mentioning they weren't claiming the offer only because they had done so recently, not because they weren't interested. I'm planning to offer up the plants I can't use because I knew others would be able to use and enjoy them. I do have a couple I can add, but, as I said, it's a small tank and I'm a beginner. I was hoping this being based on RAOK would also give me a little more acceptance…

Re: ::Plant it forward :: a RAOK like post
Hello everyone, thanks for waiting. I'm sending off the same list as Nick, but with one addition:
Dwarf water lettuce
Monosolenium tenerum 'Pelia'
Willow Moss
Jungle Vallisneria
Java Fern
Water Sprite
Hornwort
Amazon Sword
Guppy Grass
Green Temple
I took small amounts of the willow moss, java fern, and green temple. I know someone else was interested in the willow moss and green temple, so I made sure not to take it all.
The rest would've just taken over my tank too quickly (the dwarf water lettuce creates enough maintaining as it is).
Whoever claims it first will have it shipped to them on Monday.

It will grow big and fast. My main plants have leaves that are at least 6" long and that's just growing in aquarium gravel with very little to no ferts. I like the look of it when it is much smaller though when the plants is only a few inches tall. Hope they grow well for you all!

Re: ::Plant it forward :: a RAOK like post
I was at the Aquarium Cartel Swap Meet today and someone had what they called willlow moss. I am prone to believe it after looking at some photos. It was much bulkier and had larger leaflets than Java Moss. What I have, I had ordered it from a company that has a substitution policy which is fair enough. However, it seems they didn't label the substitution as what it actuallly was so I may have unintentionally pawned off java moss as willow moss. It is still darker and slower growing than what I already have as java moss (messy stuff this) but it doesn't look like what I saw today. It is probably a strain of java moss developed to grow slower or simply originates from another local so has slightly different characteristics.
I'm still not 100% sure of this because what I saw at the Swap Meet today was willow moss that had been harvested locally. Was the person that harvsted well enough aquainted with it? I do not know.
For that matter, the moss at the swap might have been a sphagnum so I am at a loss.
Does anyone have willow moss they are certain is what it is supposed to be?

my two cents ....mosses can look significantly different depending on the amount of light and at what temperature it is grown at.

HOO, Makes sense but what I saw today was obviously a totally different species. Sometimes it is tough to tell species apart. Some times it isn't.

Re: ::Plant it forward :: a RAOK like post
I saw that moss at the swap meet and have kept it before. It is Fontinalis antipyretica Hedw. Gorgeous plant that is a challenge for most to keep in traditional tanks (it prefers cold temps < 70 degrees), very low light (most LEDs would kill it in a few days) and it needs CO2 injection. That said, WA ecology does recommend it for aquariums in some of their brochures...

If you can make it work (I did for a few months), it is a GORGEOUS plant.

Not to muddy the thread but MrTom...might this be where your "creature" came from as the document shares
Importance of plant: Provides habitat for aquatic insects, larvae, and other microorganisms. Small fish species will nest in it. It is a popular plant for cold water aquariums.

Very possible. I quarantined and gave them a salt bath. Reading up on the eggs a bit, they may have survived.

Re: ::Plant it forward :: a RAOK like post
Does anyone know of what the current offer is? Or are we still waiting for an offer to pop up?
Whichever one it is, let's keep this topic back on "planting it forward" Keeping side comments out of this topic that isn't related to planting it forward should be limited so as not to bump off current offers and the like.
If need be, we could create a new topic that talks about potential Aquarium pests.
