Grow bulb... Empty Grow bulb...

Ok plant geeks...I have a bulb question...I'm gonna try a high light tank but decided to go with a pendant light as I have one not in use...7 gal cube. Aiming for rough equivalent of 4(ish) W/gal. So question is what's my best standard incandescent base fitting bulb option? Any input welcome. Thx

I'd go with a 23w Sylvania 6500K CFL from Lowes.  They come in a 2-pack for about $11:

These put out a lot of light. Smile I've used dual 13w sylvania 6500k bulbs over my 10g tanks for years with great results.

That's a bit over 3w/gal instead of the specified 4w/gal, but you likely won't find a better buy (light temp, quality, price). Plus Lowes has a great return policy in case they die quickly. I've had 1 bulb fail out of the box; all the rest have been pretty reliable.

Is your tank rimless? If so I may have a light for you....

If interested let me know. I used it to grow plants up and out of my tank. Super bright , I think it'll reach your 4 W per gallon equivalent.
