Re: The bigger tank bug
Very nice! Congratulations!
Is it 4' L x 18" H?
With some woodworking, fiberglass, and pond armor that could turn into an 8' monster!
Hope you enjoy your new tank!

It's a 55 long and I think I'll stick with 2 HOBs until I have money for a canister filter.

Nice upgrade, it will open up a lot in stocking options.

Re: The bigger tank bug
A good hob filter like the AC110 could handle it on its own. Or two penguin 350's would work awesome too. Would not even need a canister.

Re: The bigger tank bug
Can also mix and match depending on stock ... for messy fish an aquaclear and a penguin work really well together.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but... Isn't a 55 Gallon "long" the same thing as a standard 55 Gallon aquarium, in that they are both 48" in length?
(48" is = 4') If so, what makes it a "long" ? Shorter height? Thinner width/depth? What?
I get confused when I read/hear people say 55 Gallon Long, as I've never actually seen one before. lol.
Just curious
Re: The bigger tank bug
I have an AC 50 and the tank is coming with a penguin filter. Yes it's the 48in one I just said long because they have short 55s that are taller.

I had 56 g column which Lloyd now has. They put in a divider/brace so I had to do two filters. I used the AC70 and penguin 200. This was a great combo.MorganEA wrote:I have an AC 50 and the tank is coming with a penguin filter. Yes it's the 48in one I just said long because they have short 55s that are taller.

Re: The bigger tank bug
You will like the 55G tank Morgan. They give you lots of options for stock, plants, and just plain having fun. Looking to the next step, keep in mind that the 33G long has the same footprint as the 55G but is a little shorter so the next upgrade for you might be a double stack combo using your new 55G and a future 33G long. Makes a sweet double tank setup (can't help it...I'm always looking for ways to use my space efficiently).

Re: The bigger tank bug
I think all the tanks madness has are mid-sized... after all the are only in the three digits when it comes to gallons. Now when he get a tank with gallons in the four digits then its monster sized!

Re: The bigger tank bug
It is BEYOND a downward spiral... I went from 20, 55, 125, 240, now hopefully going to pick up my 450gal (thx Candyman ). tomorrow... There's just always, that ONE more fish you want. Then its "oh if i only had more space i could put *fish x* in". Now here i am... 6'x6'x20". Going to get LM bass, channel catfish, crappies and pumpkinseeds. But i NEVER get over walking into the room and seeing my beautiful and massive tank!!!

grats on the 55, but it be to small soon, MTS and LTS go hand in hand, started with 10g here, now? 2 75g, a 90g, a 180g, and a 34g nursery tank. and now I am looking for 150g or another 180g to upgrade the jag pair to from the 90g.
