Project betta
I could'nt help myself :/ this little guy has been on the shelf at petco for a while and nobody would ever buy him. I got a 50% discount for him, and the fish guy said "where did he come from?!". He has trouble swimming and I really hope he pulls through, ill let you guys know his progress if he makes it.

Re: Project betta
I always feel so sorry for all the bettas at Petco...and that's why my betta wall project is still something I'm thinking about...but in reality no matter how many great little homes I had for these guys...there would never be enough. They are probably one of the most mistreated fish around. It is so sad. We need to start a grassroots movement on the behalf of the bettas working for better treatment and care.

Re: Project betta
It would be nice if we could start something like that, its about time. The little guy is swimming a little better this morning. It seems like hes no longer on death's doorstep.

Re: Project betta
Here he is already swimming like a champ and showing his personality. I can no longer see his head bones and his color is showing a bit. He's enjoying his new friends and a larger tank. Bettas are so tough.

Re: Project betta
Looks like he's getting used to his new and improved home. He's lucky you came along when you did.

Re: Project betta
We should have taken a picture of him in the store. I picked up his cup thinking he was dead, that's how bad he looked.

Re: Project betta
Im really worried about him guys, I observed something that I have never seen with any of the bettas I have had. His gills will kind of extend, it looks like when they eat something too big, and little bubbles will come out of his gills and mouth. It seems to agitate him and he is definitely not making a bubble nest. Has anyone ever seen or heard of this?

Re: Project betta
His name is now Zombie! He was (almost) dead and now he is alive and chasing his tank mates.

Re: Project betta
Sounds like he had compounded issues. Being in a bad environment for so long really must of taken its toll.

Re: Project betta
His fins are growing back very nicely and his colors are showing even more. He's back with a vengeance though!
