New 9G Eheim nano tank
Just a few pics of my new setup. It's been running over a week and the wood has wood boogers but other than that things are looking very nice. I removed one of the lights as the fish did not like the bright lights and are doing much better in the dimmer light.

Thanks fishNAbowl. One light came with the setup. I bought the extra thinking I wanted it for plants (which I do) but the N. rachovii did not like the bright lights. I found him up behind that filter wedged in the corner of the tank. Figured it was him or the plants so one light went. I guess I could put a lot of cover (floaters) on the tank and try the 2nd light again but the flow on the surface is pretty light now and the floaters would make it even less so I think I'll leave it this way for now and see how things go.

Thanks WhosURDadi. I picked the tank up at Denny's Pet World. They had 3 sizes I think...but I can't remember what all of them were now. I really like the look of this tank. And I love the lighting and options with it. I'm still out on the filtration. The filter allows for mechanical and biomedia so I pulled a piece of sponge from a cycled tank and biomedia from a cycled tank and loaded it up. It seems easy to maintain but I'm not sure how effective it will be. Time will tell. I like good filtration so I might add one of those small nano canisters to the tank in the future. Setup did not come with a heater so that you would have to buy. The one other think I don't like about the tank is it comes with these flimsy plastic clip things that are used on the tank lid to keep it from falling in the tank. They slip off easily...I've already lost one behind the dresser. I'm trying to think of an easy replacement for those that will stay in place better.
The wood, rocks, fish and plants came from Aquarium Co-Op.

Once the plants become large enough and provide shade you maybe able to use the other light. For me its always fish 1st , plants 2nd (quoted by another member )
I will never complain again about my 30 minute commute to either Denny's Pet or Aquarium Co-Op seeing how far you travel to visit these shops.

Not having a local fish store like those over on your side of the mountains has it's challenges and rewards. I save up ideas and make lists and plan for a fun day of "fish" shopping when I do get over that way but sometimes I overspend my budget (although having that GSAS sponsor store discount helps out tremendously) as I'm so excited to see everything in person and love all the choices available. We usually make the rounds the day of the GSAS meeting, pick up or deliver fish also as needed, shop, and go on to hear a great talk at the GSAS meeting that evening along with the wonderful auction they have at the end of the night. It is one of the highlights of our month.
The commute is well worth it.

Thanks poffman. I'll keep things updated as far as the filter. Here's some full tank shots I took today as I realized last night I hadn't taken any since setup (notice wood boogers...yuck...but not as bad as axolotl jelly stuff...yuck yuck)

The test of time will be how well this tank ages...fish and plants...we'll see.
