Pregnant Amano Shrimp Depress Me...well, sorta.
Everytime I see one of my Amano Shrimp berried and carrying eggs, I feel like I should do something for it, so that all the shrimp larva can survive, unfortunately I don't have the tools or patience to provide saltwater for the larva, and slowly acclimating the adult Amano Shrimp.
I've read online about how it's difficult to raise Amano Shrimp babies when they are in their larval state...but geez, just look at all those eggs....

Pretty cool. I think you should try and raise a batch, it would be a pretty neat accomplishment.

DMD123: I wish I could, alas, I don't have a batch of saltwater lying around, or food small enough to feed the shrimplet larva things... lol!

Saltwater is easy to obtain.... what do they need to eat?
Come on you can do it

I'm going to be the wet rag again - it's really, really tough, from what I've read. Your time would most likely be better spent doing something else, like watching grass grow.

pbmax: Yep, that's exactly what my impression was when I read about raising amano shrimp fry.

The salt and acclimation is easy enough, just takes a while to adjust them safely to salinity. As feeding, probably would need Phytoplankton or rotifers, which can be ordered online.

Oh man. Too much time and effort, worth my time. I'd rather just buy them as adults. LOL... okay, I don't feel as bad anymore.

Think of it this way: they become food for something else (or maybe for the shrimp, do they eat their own eggs?), so it's not wasted.
I gave a very fleeting effort to raise some ghost shrimp fry, and I came to the same conclusion... having to try to feed them some sort of live food on a regular basis is not worth it. Probably the only way to successfully do it would be to just establish a brackish tank, seed it with some kind of live food for them, then when one is pregnant acclimatize, and then grow the shrimplets out in that tank. But even that sounds like so much work... and you probably wouldn't get all that many in the end

Right, I kinda figured that something would at least the larva or even the eggs, so all is not lost.

Ghost shrimp (at least one species so named) can breed in freshwater, particularly if you have green water in the tank. It takes a dirty tank, though, from what I've read.
