New Here - Saying Hello - Pics Included

Hello guys, My name is Danny.
I recently found my new love, and started my new hobby. AQUARIUM LIFE!
ive got a 50 gallon tank for now, it houses 11 south african cichlids.


FISH : 11 South African Cichilids (6 Peacocks, 2 Yellow Electric, kenyi, Ventus, Transcriptus)
FILTRATION : Aquaclear 110, Aquatech 30-60, Home-Made Moving Filter
SUBSTRATE : Black Tahitian Moon Sand, and Medium Black Gravel
PLANTS : 2x Amazon Swords, 1x Java Fern
HEATER - 200w Heater
MISC - Simple bubble wants, and added biomedia in 30-60 HOB filter.

im looking to rescue atleast 2 SA/CA cichlids from a close friend of mine. Ive watched these guys grow, ive basically been there for every step of the way.
ive suggested what to feed them, when to feed them, ive been the one to do his water changes. He just pays for everything.


And now he wants to just ditch them...

Looks like Tupperware Tank 101 Is about to hit. Ill have to do a ghetto "HOW TO" on making a cheap tank to save a fish lol...

There is a running joke here among the African cichlid group and SA/CA cichlid group. When one person is raising one type the other group tries to convert them over. Its all in fun!

what else is there to keep? and clearly you dont understand the joy of cichlid keeping. those livebearers just dont compare.

See I noticed you jabbed Fyurae regarding her catfish. So I jabbed back to your comment to her by saying what I did. She didnt jump at you, but you got defensive with me. You say you only lived there for 2 years, sure you didnt grow up there? I hope that we dont have to explain everything all the time. You know with you being from Graham and all.

Hey have you ever watched an old Jeff Dunham stand up show on TV. Theres a part where his puppet Peanut, gives a person in the audience a hard time, and Peanut waves his hand over his head and makes a noise. Kinda like a car going by really fast, yeeeeow.

Jeff Dunham cracks me up. Walter has to be one of my favorites, we all know some grumpy old guy just like him, right madness?

See, thats the kind of ribbing that goes on around here! And I really cant make fun of madness age because Im older than him!

I am a military brat. Born in Korea (South ), raised all over the place, and settled in to Washington for the last 28yrs.

Thats why I had the 21 year old comment. I find that a lot of the younger individuals,(besides Fishman) are a bit difficult to keep from getting wound up. Hey, I was there, and remember. Its all fun here, a lot of us know each other quite well, and we for the most part enjoy all comments and what we all have to contribute. Hey if you were more into the C/SA gig I would invite you over to see the fish room. (its not like your 100 miles away. I could probably hit you with a rock) A lot of the time once you meet someone, you get a better idea for how they are on here.

I'm a military brat as well, born in Japan. I spent a year at Kunsan AB in Korea. I've been here for about 10 years now.

You know, i am into all cichlids. i think they are all beautiful creatures in their own right.
and to be completely honest, i would LOVE to have a tank with proper size to house some of those giants.
unfortunately i got talked into south african cichlids from a good friend of mine before i could make the purchase.
now im stuck with 11 cichlids that ive grown to love, i wish i would have gone with a 1 or 2 species tank tho...

I would love to come and take a look at your tanks, shake your hand, and get to know you better then some texts on a screen.
im into fish in general, even goldfish in their own respect. you show me a fish in a nice tank that has been taken care ,
i will pull up a chair and sit infront of the glass for hours... i often joke to my friends

Your never "stuck" with fish, you can eat them. That would be a Spyral response. You never got to meet Spyral... maybe he will visit?

i love ALL african cichlids. Where as i only like maybe 2-3 of the SA/CA's
