Bog Wood Project!
So, in preparation for my big tanks arrival next summer, I started on some bogwood treatment. I decided I wanted two hollowed out logs approximately 10 inches across, with the end of one sitting atop the end of the other. In addition, I want the stump from the log at the end of the tank. Yesterday I picked out an ash tree of the appropriate size. After my dad and I cut it down, I spend an hour with a pressure washer on the stump/root ball and the 9 foot diameter stump is now about 5 feet. I also have an approximately 8 foot log about 10 inches in diameter on the large end. The log will be cut in half, and then I have to decide how to make these two logs hollow! pictures soon

Did lots of work today on the stump part, no progress on the log though.

It doesn't look like much, but I spent almost an hour today cutting off smaller stuff with a handsaw and pruners. Another few hours, and maybe a powersaw to go! Then I'll have to get all the bark off... that will be the least fun part.
