fry saver ideas? Empty fry saver ideas?

I don't trust my rams not to eat their eggs so I need ideas on where to put them. I don't want to move them to a new tank with different water parameters and end up killing the babies. I had one of the net box things but the other fish were able to suck my play fry out from the tiny holes. Any help would be appreciated

DIY egg tumbler. I can't post a picture from my phone but if you PM me your email or cell I can send it to you.

I use Marina hang-on breeding boxes that hang on the outside of the tank.  I like them much better than the nets or floating breeder boxes. You'll need a small air pump to go along with it.   [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

It pulls water from the tank and gently draws it through the tank, but I don't know if there would be enough movement to keep the eggs in good condition.  Maybe you could position an airstone to help with that.

I don't know anything about ram eggs.  If they are sticky and attached to something, I don't know if a tumbler would work?

Yea I dont think a tumbler will work, rams eggs are sticky so they are stuck to the gravel in the pit that the parent dug. I will have to wait till they hatch then suck the wrigglers up and put them somewhere safe.

For my angels eggs which are also sticky like that I remove them and do like Betty suggested with an air stone and the same water from the tank they are in. I use the floating breeder boxes with knee high panty hose stretched over it so the adults can't suck them out the side like you are saying. I get them at rite-aid for .99 They are in the plastic pop apart containers like quarter machine toys come in. I have used them for years. Cheap enough to throw away and put on a new one when they get algae on them too. I have raised many of angel fry through this route and when they start forming fins I move them to their own tank. This also allows me to use a turkey baster to keep their confinements clean and ease for removing dead fry while not removing any live as well, unlike water changes in bigger tanks. I have had better success this route than parent raising or moving them solely to another tank to hatch even with the same water. Good Luck!

the little square is the nursery and that where I have the eggs now. The betta in the tank tried to take over the rams "nest" and was stressing the parents out so I decided to scoop the eggs out and put them in the baby saver. We shall see what happens! The eggs look really close to hatching, probably in the next day or so.

Lol I've got my LF bn group I'm setting up for breeding. Just gotta find some logs I like to add to their aquarium and wait. I also have about 19 angel fry right now I'm growing out to sell. Breeding gbr wasn't a goal but if it happened would have been fun. Smile

I have 2 angels that have finally paired up. I've been fattening them up on blood worms hoping that they will lay eggs. Its a good thing I took the eggs when I did, the betta has chased the parents away from their nest and the rest of the eggs that I didn't get have been eaten

The eggs have hatched! You can see the wiggling around on the gravel in the nursery.
