Re: any ideas on what this fish is?
You only overpaid if you don't like the fish. The cost of a fish is irrelevant, each store/breeder etc has to put different things into making that fish happen. You should evaluate what the fish in front of you is worth to you. I sell stuff in my store that there is no way I'd pay that for it. And yet I can't keep it in stock either. Most high end mosses are this way to me. $30 moss? You'd have to be crazy. Except I sell out within a day or 2 every time.fishyladdy wrote:did i over pay? lol or was that a good price? i like them alot and would love to get them to breed. but frankly im not sure what all conditions they like ill look them up though
But in general, I usually see that fish for 12-15 each typically.
Re: any ideas on what this fish is?
That's a great price IMHO... i thought you had Apistogramma cacatuoides (Orange Flash), if the fish is orange but if it's red then Cory is correct! And he is the fish whisper, so listen to him.

What's the $30 moss? I've seen the $200 fish or whatever those Zebra Pleco's were!Aquarium Co-Op wrote:You only overpaid if you don't like the fish. Tail shape gives it away, cacatuoides don't come to a point like that, a spade tail if you will.BallardFishGuy wrote:That's a great price IMHO... Re: any ideas on what this fish is?
No that's a good price fishyladdy. Even if you paid that for each fish you did real good. An average retail price for a single double red Apistogramma is $12fishyladdy wrote:did i over pay? lol or was that a good price? i like them alot and would love to get them to breed. but frankly im not sure what all conditions they like ill look them up though
May I ask you if where you got them have any more Of both sexes, and where you got them?

Re: any ideas on what this fish is?
I think that's a great price on a dwarf cichlid. I'm not in the big circles of fish that some of these fellas are in and I don't see the dwarfs as often. ( I hope I'm being politically correct ) I'm sure $5.99 is a great price for any thing I don't see all the time everywhere.

Re: any ideas on what this fish is?
Sounds like a great deal, the one in the pic looks pretty! Hope you get them to breed, I'm sure you could sell the fry for almost as much as you got each adult for if they are in good shape.
Re: any ideas on what this fish is?
I paid 4.99 for Apistogramma cacatuoides "Orange Flash" fry. FRY! Granted, they aren't the same type of fish... BUT! You got a great deal!

Re: any ideas on what this fish is?
Thats funny i had went down there to get a few and they raised the price to 14.99
I didn't need to have em that bad so i passed on em. I was shocked to see them house a pair of red devils with fry with another one and was beaten dang near to death. I had to tell them to do something about it before they even noticed.

Re: any ideas on what this fish is?
I'm sure it's not easy to keep track of dozens of tanks and all the fish in them, while still trying to run a store.... That said, it's not impossible, so good on you for pointing out that something was wrong. Maybe they will keep an eye out for that in the future.
I have some blue tetra that I could trade for the extra male... although I shouldn't, he would like more space than I can provide.

Re: any ideas on what this fish is?
Now, that's a normal price for Bridges Pet, even at $14.99 it was probably 20% off....lol!twoohsix wrote:Thats funny i had went down there to get a few and they raised the price to 14.99
