Anyone tried their fish's food?
I was just feeding one of my tanks, getting some Hikari frozen daphnia out of the freezer, when I saw the "NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION" printed on the package. I guess it was the 5-year-old in me which immediately asked, "Why not?" I thankfully didn't give in to my inner thoughts about what food meant for fish might taste like, but continued to wonder... then I remembered you guys!
Has anyone (accidentally or purposefully) tasted the food they feed to their critters? I know we all (hopefully) feed a variety of foods, and I know from the smell that some (or all) of them must be pretty bad judging by a human's tastes, but I still wonder...
And before anyone suggests this, no, I will not be the one to try it out first

Re: Anyone tried their fish's food?
I imagine the "not for human consumption" has to do with not needing to conform to FDA rules?
But no, I've never tasted any pet food. I guess I'm not THAT open to trying new things

Re: Anyone tried their fish's food?
Oh yeah, my cat TOTALLY goes nuts for some of the kinds of food. Not to mention, all the Hikari plastic/foil zipper bags sound just like cat treat bags, so she always thinks I am going to give her treats when I feed the fish.
Once I left a pack of algae wafers on the tank stand, and I came home to a ripped open bag and plenty of algae wafers missing. Now all the food goes in the cabinet where she can't get it.
Oh Steve!

I'll be the first to fess up. I've tried a Hikari Massivore pellet. Jubs and I dared eachother. It tasted really shrimpy like shrimp chips. Definitely wanted to cleanse the pallet.

I would have expected it to taste like chicken, after all everything tastes like chicken.
