Looking to improve my filtration

Right now I have an Eheim 2213 cannister filter and an aqueon 30. I'm open for ideas on how to get the most out of my filters. I do have large extra sections of the media pads that I could cut and use to add more straining power. I also have filter media bags.....

Do you have a certain issue that you are trying to resolve?

Add a sponge at one or both ends. Rinse them regularly so the flow stays high.
