YMCA Adventure Guides is a program designed to strengthen child parent relationship. This program is designed to help foster a life time of companionship to strengthen the relationship between children and parents. As an adventure guide, the parent and the child will join a unique ‘Circle’ with whom they will participate in games such as camping trips, and ceremonies, while creating a sense of self-esteem, personal worth and quality family time.

The kindergarten kids form the 4th Grade explorers and princesses. In this relationship building program father and child participate together. ‘Circles’ meet once or twice per month and have a big nation event each month. They also plan Fall and Spring campouts. Father and children fish together, canoe, hike, conduct ceremonies and much more. A variety of monthly nation events including putt-putt golf, skating, pumpkin carving, campouts, Christmas, 4th of July parades, bowling, kite flying, sweetheart banquets/sports banquets and derby days are offered by this father child program. Nation campouts are held each Fall and Spring at an area YMCA owned or state park campground which hosts big events like The Induction Ceremony and Campfire.

‘Eagles’ program is a program designed specifically for parents of children with special needs belonging to the age group of 4 and above. Besides participating in most of the same events as the Adventure Guides Program, they will also have opportunities to attend specific camps and events that are adapted to fit their needs and abilities.
