Wetspot Tropical
Is anyone going to Wetspot this weekend?
I need some fish picked up, and wont be able to get them delivered on the days that I need them and cant get down to Portland to get the fishes myself.

Cool, if I absolutely cant make it down there then I might ask you really nicely...a.k.a. beg...if you could grab some fishes while you're down there.
My only days off are Sunday/Monday...And they'll only ship on Monday-Thursday. Makes it tough to get fishes when they wont even ship for Saturday delivery.

Btw, if it's available wholesale for me, which most things are. I match their prices and just ship it with my normal orders anyways. So basically you can shop wetspot and save shipping by picking it up in my store.

That's awesome to hear Cory! You are blowing away the idea of a traditional fish store

Yes I was able to acquire them without having to drive down there...It took 8 hours of paid time off, and a migraine that lasted 2 days...but they came in great shape, and are settling in just fine.
Thank you for the offer

Might have to sneak pics if you do. I knew someone who went that started taking pics and they came over and made them delete them. :/

They know who you are. Ive talked with them before about my stock and when they asked where I got it, I told them and they knew who you were. Your stock has been in their store tanks too!Madness wrote:I take pictures every time I am there, I see no reason why they would complain.

Re: Wetspot Tropical
There are definitely signs that say no pictures without express permission of the manager/owner. My kids were busy shooting kid pictures with their iPods and no one bothered them. I think that if I really wanted pictures, I'd find the manager, tell him/her what I wanted and why, that I was making no profit on them, would give WetSpot credit for the pics, etc, and they'd probably be ok. Seemed like a reasonable, well run establishment. Have a great trip. I went for the first time last weekend, and the more I think about what I saw there, the more I'd like to go back and take a better look around!

The place is a bit overwhelming at first. Now that Ive been a few dozen times I know what I want to look at and can be done pretty quick. Still NOT quick enough for the wife however.

Re: Wetspot Tropical
My wife and I are leaving Saturday morning. We will likely stop at Target at Jantzen beach and do some shopping first before heading toward The Wet Spot.
I told her I want to look there early on so that I have time to think about anything Im interested in and can come back on Sunday before we leave if I really want something.
I am hoping to be there on Saturday about 1:30. Just look for the guy looking intently at the cichlids and his wife waiting up front bored. LOL, I think thats almost everyone I see there!

Re: Wetspot Tropical
Just one of those FYI things about The Wet Spot, the online prices are not the same as in store. I always forget that when Im down there and I see the price but my mind remembers what I saw online. Always seems too expensive and then I dont buy anything....

REALLY!? Hmmm... If the price difference is that big, I might have to reconsider buying in-person...

Yep, the fish list you see online is cheaper that what the store has. So the price, plus shipping cost really is not bad a deal.

Sorry If I confused things with my statement. The meaning was that when Im in the store I dont buy anything because the price is too high. I can remember the online price and dont expect such a high mark up.

Wow, that's definitely good to know. I was going to get some fish from them and possibly drive down to get them but maybe I will just get them shipped now. Still gotta go sometime to see though. I told my boyfriend to take me on the street bike so I can't spend a ton of money! lol

That sucks!! I looked again and found this on the price list "Due to many factors, online and in-store pricing may differ." so basically we can screw you over and you cant do anything about it.DMD123 wrote:Yep, the fish list you see online is cheaper that what the store has. Nice place, have been there. They dont have many of the cichlids I like, so I tend to stick with The Wet Spot. But nice clean store for sure.

I would say its more like if its $5 on line it will be $8.99 in the store. If you plan on getting a few the extra mark up can add up fast. So ordering online can come out a better deal even with shipping cost. I am looking at some fancy pleco priced in the $50 price range, Im sure I will be looking at $75 when I get there. So I may get one or just move on. Not sure yet.

Re: Wetspot Tropical
I don't mind that they increase the price really after all, for cichlid buyers like me you get to pic juvies that have quality patterns and colors, such as peacocks that may already transitioning to male colors; so in the long run you're saving a lot more than buying an adult male peacock. Plus you do get a stronger bond if you get to hand pick your fish :p

Any specific type you're looking at?
John (Snookn21) might be able to beat their price if you get a set, and the shipping isn't bad either.

I have a Rhino pleco now and he is very cool but not very much to look at. I was hoping to get another pleco with some color and that would get big enough not to become snook food.

If anyone has the time down there, would it be a burden for anyone to pick me up a Rubin Red peacock cichlid? Today I can't find my Ruby Red peacock in my main tank, I'm assuming he was eaten since I've turned over every rock there is. I'll gladly pay a bit extra for the trouble .

Was not too impressed with a lot of the CA/SA cichlid tanks. Many beat looking fish. It was a busy Saturday and packed out. I bought some driftwood and might go back tomorrow for a pleco.
