Seiryu (Ying) stone 'secret' in next issue of Northwest Aquaria
Hi All,
When I got back into aquarium after an absence of many years what brought me back was the the advances in planted tanks and aquascaping. I enjoy using driftwood and stone both as hardscape accents and as attachment points for various plants. I often wondered how some of the stones I saw in the aquascapes achieved that dark, almost black, look with the white veins going through them. Well I finally learned how and will share it with folks in the next issue of the GSAS newsletter, Northwest Aquaria.

This is what they typically look like in the past after boiling and scrubbing with a bristle brush; white and very chalk-like. They darken a little over time in the tank.
