Got a 40g breeder that I wanted to start a planted shrimp tank . Also got a Marineland H.O.T Magnum canister filter. Anyone have any experience with these? If so your thoughts/review would be appreciated.

Re: New Christmas Tanks?
Filstar XP4 XL canister filter XD It's a beast and I haven't gotten a chance to open the box yet! It's one of several things I need to set up the 125 XDDD ....actually I need everything except the tank and this canister LOL XD but at least it's going to be minimal deco because of the giant fish I will be keeping XD. Was hoping for more fish stuff cause XD but people don't like giving gift cards. So after the new year I think I'm gonna go out and buy the next school of fish I need for the 55 XD and research glass hoods/tank stand plans.

Re: New Christmas Tanks?
I got a couple of those weird Petco 13 gallon widescreen tanks. They had them on sale for $30 bucks (with filter and heater!). I was doing some math and they are exactly a 45 gallon tank shrank three times over! 13x8x16 vs 36x12x24 (or 8/27th the volume!) I'm not sure exactly what I'll do with them yet, but dwarf rasbora colonies may be it. I also got to move my fishroom into a new office... work is still in progress!

Re: New Christmas Tanks?
My stocking was stuffed with water testing stuff...digital PH tester and digital EC/TDS tester. Also a new digital thermometer. Santa knew exactly what I was looking for. We'd picked up a 50G Juwel tank (from a fishbox member) a week ago also...I consider that part of my Christmas deal but it will be a while before we get that setup as we need to build a stand for it.

Re: New Christmas Tanks?
Cichlid gal,
I can fill this up with all the Red rainbow guppies you could want.... This is my strain that were born in my outdoor tub in October...Of course they indoors now and will thrive at room temps.
They are really colorful and very hardy fish too. Very cool lookin' setup!
California Manaznita sticks (contact with Luminous aide) would be great and some tall valsillis (have it too) or najas grass and the like. Keep us posted on your final set-up as your always one to insprie us!

Re: New Christmas Tanks?
Thanks Chad! I really had not planned on another tank as my remaining space is so small now for tanks but this tank just screamed that it would fit into that space and John was in a great after Christmas sale mood (and I had some coupons stored up too that needed to be used also...Pals rewards)
Sherry...thank you! googled those and they look stunning. I have already had an offer for some guppies to set up the tank but I plan on using this tank as a kinda perpetual guppy tank...where I can have one color morph for a while then move on to another and so on. So I will take that offer up in the future if it still stands when I'm ready. Thanks so much

Re: New Christmas Tanks?
Cichlid_gal,
How did you google my guppies? I've only sold afew bags at 2 mini auctions now.
This strain has been going for over 5 years now from just 4 original pairs and had took them over for a friend of mine in Bothell last spring. They are very unique in that the females are just as colorful as the males and most sport black pectrol fins! I will give you a few to try out that will be very young (3mos.) and will grow up in your water. These are the most hardy strain I've ever worked with. Let me know and I will bring a few cool ones I would keep myself, at the next meeting for you.

And as I said above...I would like some of yours but at a future date as I have committed to some others for the tank right now.
