Did you see King5 news?
Green Lake has "blue/green algae"! Could this be the dreaded cyanobacteria found in our hobby. NASTY I have a 30 gallon battling with a severe case of this stuff. My fingers stink whenever I feed the fish. Could you imagine a whole lake full of this stuff?!? Could you imagine swimming in it?!? OMG!

Re: Did you see King5 news?
They were talking about dogs drinking the water and getting sick... pretty gross, I wouldn't swim in that lake anyway though, even without that stuff
Re: Did you see King5 news?
Maybe they should call it Blue-Green Lake?
I'll be tearing down, thoroughly cleaning, and completely re-doing the 10g tank with safe-t-sorb where I have the stuff, possibly as soon as this weekend. Done with that crap substrate - nothing but trouble for me.
Blackouts would kill the stuff, but it would just come back, even with high potassium nitrate dosing. Safe-t-sorb sucks up everything and ruins Christmas.

I remember back in the 80's when someone let a Caiman ( small gator ) loose in the lake and it was eating ducklings. The local radio station even did a parody song about it.

Re: Did you see King5 news?
Green lake has had this issue for years, nothing new. While most think it's a decent lake which it is for the most part, it's an intercity lake. No real inflow-in or out as far as I know. Start adding no amounts of rain and hot temps bingo there you go. The city could improve it but why, that cost money!
I wonder how many people eat fish from there?
