Re: Road trip to see Cory's shop
I need to make my way up there. I have been wanting to check out the store since it was opened but the drive makes me have to make a special day trip up there.

Well D, maybe yourself, me and Lloyd and another Southender, can plan a day trip to head up and visit Cory. On the way back we can hit the new and Improved (crossing my fingers) APFP, then over to Midway, and home.

Re: Road trip to see Cory's shop
Yeah, I'd like to take that trip too, as long as I wasn't driving I'd put in for my part of the gas!!!!! I always have a hard time driving north with all the gridlock you have to deal with near Seattle. That's why I rarely go up there, unless my wife drives. Guess its a small bout of road rage. (Self diagnosed of course)

Road trip to see Cory's shop
My truck seats 5, 4 more comfortably, whenever you guys want to go. I am done with school till Sept24, so I can even go during the week if that works for you.
So thats 3, anyone else interested in making the trip? But, if we go during the week, like Lloyd I hate traffic, so we would need to be up there around opening time, and done with Midway before I5 gets to crazy going South.
Moving this talk so that we dont foul up Cory's thread.

C**P! I will most likely have to work that Saturday. We are going to open the business up on a weekend to the public to try and sell the rest of the stuff off. September will just not work unless the business closes early.

9/21 is the Plant swap. Which would be cool cause there are door prizes etc if you're participating. But it could be a late night for you guys driving back.
Re: Road trip to see Cory's shop
Tacoma...? Tacoma? TACOOOOOOMA?!?!?! You think that's a drive. What about me? I work there three times a week, and I'm from Bremerton. =P
Not only do I drive, I have to take a ferry as well.
Hahaha...there is no excuse! =P Come see us!

Yes there is an excuse, I dont want to go to jail, and if I have to deal with the 85% of dumb a** drivers that live here in Washington while driving up there, I will end up running them off the road.PokeSephiroth wrote:Tacoma...? I think madness has a great idea with the road trip.
Actually, I have plenty of patience for kids. It's adults that drive me crazy from time to time.......
My wife says that I suffer from road rage (when cut off) and tech rage (when my laptop / phone doesn't work as fast as I think it should_
I like the idea of the 21st...... i have plans most weekends this month, but i definitely want to make it up there.
Poke, we need a ferry from tacoma to edmonds

a ferry from Tacoma to Edmonds...that would be interesting.
If that happened, then there DEFINITELY shouldn't be any excuse not to visit Aquarium Co-Op =P

Re: Road trip to see Cory's shop
I've been to Cory's shop a few times from way down south here in McKenna! I don't buy any fish, but have found other things that I "needed". And yes, the traffic on I-5 is terrible. I think the number is more than 85%! This is me during most of the 75 mile drive (each way) -->

Hey BillHN, if you get a chance let me know when you're gonna be there, I would like to meet some members from the fishbox in person
I luckily only live about 5 miles from there, so it's not a big issue for me to head down

Re: Road trip to see Cory's shop
I hear that. I avoid anything north of where my folks live in Renton like the plague (and that's really too far north already!). It seems the older I get the more dangerous, oblivious, idiot drivers there are on the roads around here.madness wrote:

Re: Road trip to see Cory's shop
Exactly!!! There is no being courteous, a blinker means nothing (whether it is used or doesnt get used), all hills and curves for some reason is a sign to slow down to 20 under the speed limit. Oh look, some people on the side of the road, lets slow down and look at them............................ OMG, whats that? Is that rain? ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, lets slow down. Oh no, here comes a firetruck at us 5 lanes over, OMG the law says I need to stop. ERRRRRRRRRRRR. (NO YOU DONT IDIOT LEARN THE LAWS!!!!!!!)
See I am already getting fired up, and I am not even on the road yet.

Re: Road trip to see Cory's shop
All too true. I consider it a lesson in anger management every time I drive. I expect everyone on the road to try to kill me in some way, either maliciously or otherwise. I own quick vehicles with decent tires for exactly this reason.

Re: Road trip to see Cory's shop
Exactly, thats what I tell my son. Be a defensive minded driver but not a defensive driver, it is more important mastering being an offensive driver.
Now if we can just keep these Asians off the road.

Re: Road trip to see Cory's shop
Having ridden in cars with co-workers from India driving, I can attest to this being true, at least for folks from India. Granted, they're not all bad drivers, but considering the chaos they learned in, it's not surprising that a substantial proportion are.DMD123 wrote:

I once had a co-worker from Iran who was riding with me on the way back from lunch tell me that I'd fit right in driving in Tehran after a mild traffic tantrum involving horns and gestures. I've mellowed a lot since then (bad marriage back then, for one), but I still take it as a compliment.
If people don't get called on their bad driving, why would they ever change? It does occur me that it's not my job to punish these people for their poor driving behavior...

What can I say? It's not illegal if you're not caught! SO DON'T GET CAUGHT OVER SPEEDING! =P
If you ask a filipino the rules of the traffic lights,
Filipinos will usually say:
Green, go.
Yellow, go faster.
Red, stop....if you want.

I'm pretty sure red means stop! I got T boned at an intersection because a guy ran a red light.

Re: Road trip to see Cory's shop
rofl i drive for a living in downtown seattle every week.. you guys just pick TERRIBLE times to go there. first off any weekday from 6-10am or 3-7pm is going to suck. the trick is to just avoid that tiny little 5 mile section of I5. take another highway or surface street to avoid it. also any day with a major sporting event is going to be chaos..
on a side note i feel the pedestrians in seattle are much worse then the actual traffic... or those darn cyclists!!!!!

Many cyclists, unfortunately, don't believe traffic law applies to them. Or they magically convert themselves from cyclist into pedestrian and back, unpredictably. And people wonder why they get smooshed...Anthraxx wrote:
