So my husband and I are thinking about building a 450 gal from acrylic slabs and building its stand into the structure of our house in the living room. Just need to get cash together can't wait

That would be awesome. Just make sure you have enough support underneath the floor to hold up the weight!

I'm guessing you will be doing it out of 1" acrylic. Just make sure you use enough weld on and clamp it for long enough

We were going to use like1/2 " and make acrylic supports in it you think we should still go with 1"?

1/2 shouldn't even be considered for a tank of that size. Your tank would bow badly if not blow apart.

Sounds epic, I'll be following this! I'd have to say neh on that 1/2" as well. Seems most acrylic tanks over 100gals are 3/4" and up.

In the tacoma area I know Kel-tech plastics is the main source, I believe there is one more, not sure though. A while back when briefly shopped for acrylic sheets I noticed that in the 1"+ plus range the prices don't differ a whole lot between manufacturers.

The building of large Aquarium like 450 gallon is tough task. It needs lot of care and
maintenance if placed at home. The necessary equipment like lighting should of high
quality and need of powerhead for better flow in this tank.

Nice I'd like to see this play out. I've been doing some research on custom tanks and have seen some real nice designs.

Being only 2' tall you can get away with thinner material, especially if it is cell-cast acrylic.
