I caught a good shot of my single berried Blue Velvet this evening. Her coloration isn't fantastic since she's sitting on light green, but she was posing for me so I grabbed the camera Smile

She'll darken up more in a few molts, I'm glad they are taking off already for you! I counted 5 berried females in my tank last night.

Gorgeous blue Smile I'll likely never hit that since I don't have much black in that tank. The substrate's mostly black, but it's littered with snail shells (calcium, u know Smile).

Thats why I ordered Kens Veggie sticks with Calcium so theres no need for snail shells! Also of course yours will hit that blue, its a good strain.

Tell that to all of the assassins in that tank that create them Wink

I feed veggie sticks with CA to all my inverts, off and on. My african dwarf frogs like them too, strangely enough.

Here are a few more photos I took this morning. I have 3 berried blue velvets now; you can see 2 different ones in these photos. The original berried female (pictured twice) is both saddled and berried, which I've never noticed before among my neocaridina.

Thanks for looking!

As of today, 17 days after she was berried, my first berried female has released her eggs. I saw a few babies still hanging on under her tail, but most of the eggs were gone and I did see one baby hanging out on the side glass algae. Very Happy

Hopefully they'll grow quickly and stay healthy! cheers

My yellow females released today too. Got lots of little ones in the tank now but havent had time to take any photos.

My fire red released another batch and the tank is littered with little red shrimplets. I love it.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]" alt="" />

Only bad ones. Smile I caught some of another berried female and a horribly blurry shot of a baby a week ago. I can always find at least one in the tank. I'll see about processing some of the bad ones....

Here are a couple of awful photos (but hey, you asked Wink), one of a blurry glob that's actually a baby blue velvet and one of an out-of-focus berried female. The male in the 2nd shot does appear to be mostly in focus...

exactly, Cardinals love that stuff. I have only one left and threw it in with my yellows and he is thriving in there even in lower PH. Go figure. I may buy some more and just raise some with my yellows.

Well, 36 - 46W of fluorescent light over a 10g tank, a history of over-feeding and over-stocking (way too many male endlers), and a full compliment of liquid ferts on top of all that. It's heavily planted, but even with tons of floating plants on top of root and stem plants I wasn't able to keep the algae down. I did some decent gravel vaccing after I yanked all the endlers and malawa in prep for the blue velvets so the algae growth has definitely slowed down a bit. On the right side glass you can see where I cleared a section of the super-thick growth (about 1/16" thick) Smile It's by far my best algae growing tank.

Here are some better photos I took this morning of a baby and a different berried female (plus a volunteer male). My lighting was questionable and they wouldn't stop moving for me, so they're slightly blurry; but they're a definite improvement over the previous set.

They're growing fast! The oldest babies are over 1/4" now and I see them everywhere. I have so many tiny ones now that I'm seeing them everywhere too. I had to look hard to find the first batch when that's all I had; I'm sure you'll see more with time.

I did lose an adult male over the weekend, but that seems to be an isolated incident. I'm still seeing berried females and those that aren't berried are saddled. These guys are my most successful shrimp thus far I think - as far as how quickly and prolifically they started breeding for me from the time I got them. My Malawa may have been quicker, but I don't count them. Smile

My yellows are still somewhat stagnant - all berried females have released and they don't seem to care about making more babies any time soon. The yellow babies seem happy and healthy; no problems there.

I think I'm having trouble with my blue bees - I know they've hatched multiple batches by now but I can't seem to find any babies or juveniles. This isn't particularly surprising giving my crappy history with most non-neocaridina species; hopefully I'm just not seeing them.

nice I'm glad to hear the success.

Yeah the funny thing about the blue bees. They are probably the best hiders. Twice now I thought I had them all die off.

Once I found them in my aquaclear HOB.
And the other time when I ripped my stratum out I found all of them, a berried female and a few babies just hanging out like nothing happened. =)

it's like they take a vacation and return home without notifying you.
