longest week ever?

So for the last couple of months i have had a small algea problem, not to much for me to care but in the last few weeks it got out of hand. Soooooo i bought a phosphate reacter and some phosban over the interweb hoping it will clear it up. Now it feels like this will be the longest last 2 of the 8 days of shiping.

Algae is caused by a few things ..over feeding , to much light, not enough water changes.

have you tried a black out to get rid of it before adding chemicals to your tank?

yes i have tried many things over the past few months and the 3 day black outs was tried over and over i doubt i am over feeding becouse i only have 3 fish in the tank and i only give a tiny pinch of flakes to them. my water changes are a little wacky but if any thing they got better before the explosion.

you can try something like this.algae scrubber, cheap and easy and no chemicals! ^_^

flake food can contain a lot of phosphates. If it doesnt all get eaten, it will contribute to the growth of algae. Do you have a clean up crew? Blue legged crabs and emerald crabs?
for the health of your fish and your tank, try feeding a variety of frozen food. Raw shrimp & scallops and mysis shrimp all finely chopped and soak in liquid vitamins. Formula one even. Some seaweed sheets, or nori or even spiralina/seaweed pellets.
