Re: My Peacocks and Haps Pic
I will put my money on tropheus! Dang fish are so addicting... now gobluecichlids has 4 different variants, just sold off 3 or 4 others too lol.... So many fish, So little tanks to keep them in
Pete, you will come to the tropheus side soon.... there personality and colors are just too much to resist... only problem is you cant just keep one, you have to keep a group, and you dont want too many males, they will all kill eachother, but no difference in color between male and female.
I know you like the tropheus Muzi cherry rainbow in my avatar, I got a nice size group of em, should be about 9 months til i get some babys for ya.

Lithobates are spoken for. I had to make room for new speices that arrived last night( tangerine tigers, polits, dolphins, elongatus cheweres)
the tigers, dolphins and polits are now avail for sale. sunshine peacock group, albino eureka red peacock group are still avail.
I've grown to love tropheus, frontosa, and haps now..moved up to the big boys!

My tropheus colonies and my saltwater setup will be some of the highlights in the GSAS home show this weekend (mine is schedule for sunday morning)...that will really give it a lot of exposure.

Re: My Peacocks and Haps Pic
sweeeeeet! those home shows are awesome! looking forward to seeing the pictures of there visit to your place soon.... (They still post the pictures of home shows right?)
Last time i was at your place you showed me the saltwater tank, I fell in love... seriously, you made me consider doing salt in one of my tanks! Ive been doing fresh for 8+ years and no ones ever made me think twice about switching until i saw yours.... it was unbelievable! even though it was smaller, just the choices of corals, and fish...

Re: My Peacocks and Haps Pic
lol... thats the best part of the hobby I think.... you get to watch them create life, then assist them... or watch it naturally like live Animal Planet! lol...... I really enjoy stripping fish from moms, puttin them in a egg tumbler, watching them grow day by day, and then moving them to there own tank, feed them, and watch them build a colony of there own! and sell 'em! LOVE IT!
Seriously, I got 9-12 more months until my fish get that age, and I am starting to loose it waiting.... lol.... they will start gettin there gorgeous colors in about 6 months, but i dont even care so much about that, Im all about the breeding!

Re: My Peacocks and Haps Pic
I loved collecting male peacocks for my show tank till I got to the point I started experincing my males were starting to loose colors. Either I had too many blues, reds and yellows, they simply changed back to female colors so they don't get picked on...
Haps are easier, I can put in like 3-4 different species (males and females) in the same tank and not even worry about crossbreeding. (can't do that with Peacocks)
And second, I do notice males will color up nicely when females are present.

Re: My Peacocks and Haps Pic
I would evenually try breeding but not until I find a bigger home. I really hope I don't get addicted to it and I diffinitly want some of your tropeus when breed. Goldblue how much you selling your tangerine tiger adult?

Re: My Peacocks and Haps Pic
Well you got itleast 9 months til the tropheus you want (tropheus Morri Muzzi cherry rainbow) breed for me and I get a good clutch from mixed mothers, so you dont get all bros' and sisters that breed for you.... inbreeding, ewwww... Anyway, that is enough time to get a descent size tank for a nice colony.... to be honest, I started tropheus duboisi (Black, yellow stripe, blue face) colony of 12 fish in a standard 55gallon tank.... worked out really well..... but, I would always recommend a 75gal+ for that size of a group, give them a lil more room with that 18" width instead of only 12"..... So you dont really need a bigger home for bigger tanks....

Re: My Peacocks and Haps Pic
Infamousredlinez... pretty sure he said that was his only piece left........ anyway the ones you want are really expensive... i found a site that sells them, but shippin gets ridiculous... definetly something that has to be done thru a group buy.... I might need some, lets see how many others we can get on it... maybe do a texas holey rock group buy.

Re: My Peacocks and Haps Pic
the ones with bigger holes (likely drilled) are extremely hard to find locally. The one left I have has smaller holes, works well for fry to hide. Since I catch too many fishes from my tank, this piece is one I prefer to leave out of the tank.
I think UPS do $25 for every 50lbs of rock (just got that info from a live rock website).
Most stores will sell for 2.99lb and up..but rarely nice ones with big holes will come around. what's left are the smaller broken pieces.

Re: My Peacocks and Haps Pic
Guess what??? I sold my large wild Ikola group to someone in Oregon. Now i am thinking of another old world order to restock
..anyone regret not going in the first time around? I'll need about $400 into this order to make it happen.
However if anyone want my wild Tropheus Chilanga group (16-17), send me a PM
