Mentally handicapped Snails
I have 2 "mystery" Snails (apple snails I believe) that seem bound and determined to hurt or kill themselves. Three times today alone I've had to pull them off the intake to my Aquaclear 20! Their bodies get drawn in through the slots and they can't get off, so I have to reach in, disconnect the intake pipe, and shake it gently until they fall off.
Anyone else ever have this problem?

yeah...I lost 3 to my Cascade 300..just the adult though
i have about 5 babies from them that go no where near it and are growing perfectly fine.
it seems when i add new snails they get stuck but if they are born in the tank they seem to do fine?..

Re: Mentally handicapped Snails
Came home from work this morning and the white one, which has been the main victim to my filter, was stuck once again to the inlet pipe
I'm thinking I'm going to need to put a guard or something on the inlet pipe to keep them off it. You'd think it'd be quite painful being half sucked in through a slot a quarter of the width of them.
Stupid snails

nylons or some sponge material covering the intake but not restricting flow would be ideal. its what ive done to prevent fry loss in my main tanks.

Make sure to get permission of owner of said nylons before use.
