Trend-give me free fish

What is up with this?

Craigslist has all kinds of these ads for 'I take free fish or stuff and I will not pay'... Now I have seen a few new people recently with one or two posts asking for stuff. They are signing up and not filling out any profile info or contributing to the site in any way. If I were to guess I would say many are looking for a buck, which you have the right to do, but do it elsewhere.

Anyone else have a comment on this trend?

Here are some examples, today of what I mean

A person who only has 4 posts began with: 'I take in cichlids if you don't want'

The first post this person put up began with: 'i take in american cichlids'

Hey if Im off base here and you are not just looking for hand outs then I truly am sorry but it irks me.

nope, they appear to be asking for handouts. I am more inclined to give solutions to their problem though.

Heh... I did it! I couldn't bring myself to ask for a free one though, so I offered $200.

We have a few of those down here (Oregon) on occassion.

Just pick and choose but it better be free cause I "Do not pay for fish"

It makes me want to go to petsmart and buy some pacu and start handing them out for free to all these guys to load their tanks with fish they won't be able to sell for a profit..lol

I would never give fish to anyone placing an ad like that. I have given away countless numbers of fish, but almost always to people that I think will give them a decent home.

I'm sorry if I did any kind of mistake. I didn't mean it to come out like I'm just asking for everything for free. The reason I ask for the cichlids is because my families love their company and having tanks in our room and living that has only a couple of cichlids in it. My younger brother and sister enjoy watching them, theyve always ask if I can get more but I can't because I am currently jobless and just want to make them happy that's all

Well 'D' you hit the nail on the head. When I saw the post this morning, I was so close to going on a 10 min ti-raid, but did not have the time to. So you kinda stole my thunder. But agree 100%. There has been others on here that have asked for free stuff, or have given excuses why they need it. You help, and all you hear is more, more, more....... Sorry, I am more than willing to help or assist, but adds like that, get nothing from me. Even if I wanted to give fish or items away. There are a few individuals out there that I will help in a heart beat, but not those that you speak of.

A lot of this post stems from recent craigslist ads and situations where people are "asking" for things with all kinds of stipulations and are in it for money. This is fine, its their right. BUT when it involves the fish we raise and care for it and are part of our families it kind of makes it a tacky, tasteless way of making money.

Ive got a couple friends that are giving me an L066 pleco and 2 F1 RTM's. I could probably sell them and make easy $100.

Thats the difference. Its not all about the money, otherwise you would not own a single large fish. They would all be sold for $$$$$$$$$$.

Thanks I'm glad to be on here too and I do want to let you guys know that I'm not looking to take in free fish and than making some quick money off. I have a couple cichlids for myself and understand very well that they are part of my family. Change there water every 3-4 days. Again I'm not here to make quick money.

Ya, L066. Im excited, it is a beautiful pleco. It will go well with my L029, L177, LDA31, L114, L142 and my bristlenose.

I think its OK, he left the Red Sox behind and now supports the Mariners.
