Looks really good, the flower pots brings a nice contrasting color to the tank.

its to stop her floating plants from being sucked in to the intake/ dunked under water all the time...they tend to not like that.

Kaosu is correct. The salvinia kept getting sucked into the filter and clogging it up, so I bent some plastic canvas and put it in front off the filter. It works really well, although I would prefer some surface movement.

you could run a foam prefilter on your filter to keep stuff out of it.

It's an internal filter, so I'm not sure how that would work. I tried putting a filter around it, but the suction cups get in the way.
