Red Eared Slider Turtles
So I am just trying to figure out if anyone on here has turtles and if so what kind? I recently got a modified aquarium with 2 red eared sliders in it for free. Cute little buggers. I have done alot of research and they are in a tank by themselves with a heat lamp and an undergravel filter. Just trying to start another topic. I will post pics when I get new batteries for my camera.

I have not raised any turtles but I think they are pretty cool. Looking forward to the pics.

I have a friend that is on this site every once in a while, I believe his step dad had a fairly large tank that he has both, the turtles and large cichlids sharing it. Its pretty cool.

Thats cool. I am planning for them to have a bigger tank as they get bigger. Still pretty small now. I have an extra 55 with stand that I am thinking would work for now.

If you had a cool custom tank, lets say around 165g or so you could make a pretty cool habitat for these guys. Oh wait, you do!
I know the depth issue....

Actually that 165 would be great because what you do is you build there custom enclosure on top so they bask on top and have the entire rest of the tank to swim in. We just took out all the slate in our and added a floating dock so they have more room to swim but I can put anything on top of this one because there is a custom cut on one side that is for a hob filter.

Re: Red Eared Slider Turtles
Update!!!!!
So I bought an African Sideneck turtle today(pictures to come) at Pet-Pourri in Everett on sale for $14.99(which my 2 year old named Diego). So I setup my extra 55 gallon tank for him and my 2 baby RES and transferred them over. Now that I know I have one boy and one girl I should see about name suggestions. Anyone?? My setup is a 55 gallon with slate cave, large log attached to slate, a floating dock, under gravel filter, submersible pump, heat lamp/uv lamp and a heater. All this is on my fireplace hearth in my "fish room". I will have pictures to add sometime this week when I get a chance. I really like having turtles they are so cute.
