Re: Question about wild caught fish.
trout may need colder water, but bass and bluegills will adapt to room temp well

Rick, I used to keep young largemouth bass and bluegills together. Fun to do, and like he says, those 2 species should do well togther at room temp. Make sure the BG's aren't small enough for the bass to eat, 'cause they will! Ron

Re: Question about wild caught fish.
I've got a 150 gal tank that I would like to setup for Bluegill to start and then add some small bass. I seam to remember something about it being illegal. I shot off a email to the WDFW, but it's hard to get a answer for them. Back when I use to hunt and fish alot I tryed to get answers form WDFW and would just get a run around.

I could get you some wild caught bass and blue gill from the pond in my parents backyard. Would you to add a few catfish too?

Right now it's just a idea, but the more I think about it the better I like it. I still need to finish the stand for the tank. The other thing i'm thinking about is keeping it in the garage. It might give me a reason to build a fish room out there.

Re: Question about wild caught fish.
The laws are bit confusing to understand. I found this little bit of info: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Sounds like a by the book way of keeping would require a permit. It does not specify "Aquarium" but it does refer to "Private Fish Stocking" which seems to be the question being asked.
Best thing would be to contact these guys and keep on asking until you find someone who knows.

Re: Question about wild caught fish.
I called fish and game on this last year when I found out there might be some iffy ground..
Explained to them what I had ext..they said it was Illegal to transport live fish from any body of water in Washington with out a permit ..they also said its not really enforced....they just don't want people releasing fish for ANY reason back in to the wild native or not..THAT law is enforced, as long as the fish is of legal size limits and caught with a fishing license.
I have a sculpin...told them that and where I got it and the response was " a sculpin? ..oh just don't release it..." its a bait fish so they didn't really care...I called them 3 times and this was the same response every time ..so...take it as you will but be smart about it.
please do not release anything for ANY reason native or not if it has come home with you, or touched a fish tank.
