Will Platies eat my plants? Empty Will Platies eat my plants?

I'm trying to cycle a planted 20 gal tank. I bought some platies for the process and they seem to be picking at my plants. I really want my plants to make it!!!! Are they known for eating plants? Does anyone have experience with this? I will move them to another tank and use different fish if so.

They're cleaning your plants. They'll pick at algae forming on the leaves. Platies are plant safe.
