Pseudotropheus sp. 'acei'
Another Lake Malawi mbuna that I keep, they are the least aggressive of all the mbuna that I've kept over the years. Mine spend most of their time at the bottom of the tank sifting through the sand.

This are great pictures! Love the close ups with the sand. I think my boyfriend just got two of this little guys. His are a darker blue though but with the same yellow fins. They like to play in the sand as well.

I have 6 of these around the 3" size and they do the same thing. I just love the quality of your pictures, what kind of camera do you have?

Very nice Betty. Let me know if you ever get an abundance of fry you are willing to part with.

Thanks everyone. I've had these for a few years now and there has never been any breeding! I don't know if they are all the same sex or they just aren't interested.
I take most of my pictures with an old Canon PowerShot point and shoot camera. I also use a Nikon D60 that one day I will figure out how to use. Right now, I use it like a point and shoot.

Betty - you've got some pretty obvious males in the group, but there are 2-3 that look like females to me. The white leading edge on the dorsal fin is a pretty reliable characteristic on yellow-tails.
Do you have them in the tank with some more aggressive species? Mine spawned when they were in the demasoni tank multiple times, but haven't spawned for the last 3 months when I moved them to the tank that has crabros and chipokaes. My white-tails are now in the demasoni tank and they've begun spawning now.

Re: Pseudotropheus sp. 'acei'
They are in with rusties and mixed haps. The only aggression I ever see is conspecific within the rusties and there is one big D. compressiceps who sticks his nose into everyone's business.
I'm fine with no spawning though. I have no room to raise any more fry!! It just seems a little strange that these are the only species that I've had a group of that have never spawned.
