Pearl/Sand Shrimp? Empty Pearl/Sand Shrimp?

Are there any of these around in the hobby? Seem to be related to ghost shrimp, in that they have normal sized front claws with pincers (palaemonid? type), but I have never heard of them. Anyone keep them, and have you had success raising them at all? The interesting difference between these and ghost shrimp is that there is not larval stage, they hatch is miniature versions of adults like many dwarf shrimp do.

petshrimp dot com (sorry I can't post links yet) has a good overview of them

As far as I know they're not really in the hobby. I've never seen any on ebay or aquabid and I used to troll for shrimp both places pretty regularly.

My new quest is upon me! I love ghost shrimp but they are just too fragile, I think I shall seek these out, starting with emailing the author of that page!

Good luck! Smile

You could try Red Claw shrimp. They should be easier to find and are generally considered easy to breed. Granted, they can get nasty when they get big, but they do look a lot like ghost shrimp, only bigger.
