Re: Some updates on my Shrimp Breeding
its the worse feeling isnt it? Paranoia sets in and then you start to wonder if there's some disease that will wipe them all out.
But then again these guys have a short life span and she was pretty big so I suspect she was probably at the end of her line.
Sad to hear you had the same issue but atleast there's comfort to know that it's not too uncommon.

So I hope I can see these guys to adult hood.
I see 3 babies that resemble Panda Mosuras and or Blue Bolts and one regular panda.
Thats an adult wine red that photo bombs the baby about half way through.

You should be. UNSUBSCRIBED!
Nah... I'll stick around for the real deal. You need bigger pockets to fit your camera

My Black BKK turns out to be a female. She's been missing since I last saw her with some blue looking eggs a few days ago, which could mean she's either dead or berried. (I've seen several of the CBS females do the same once they become berried just to reappear again after they've released, so I certainly hope she's just hiding.)

Oh and I may or may not have bought some more taiwans and mischlings the other week.

Re: Some updates on my Shrimp Breeding
So I used to go to the store and buy organic spinach for a few dollars each time to feed my shrimps, but I've never been able to use a whole bag before everything would just begin to rot.
Seeds are only a buck. So lately I've been growing my own in an emersed setup. Nothing more gratifying then growing your own food source.
I'd pluck two giant leaves, nuke them in some water and the shrimps love it.

Re: Some updates on my Shrimp Breeding
Nice! We started herbs, tomatoes, onions, and pumpkins in an emersed setup this year. So far we've planted the pumpkins and onions outside with good results. The others are still in the tub - no top cover though.

You can make whole salads with your setup!
Look at what I found today in the tank. A crown SSS mosura baby.

Re: Some updates on my Shrimp Breeding
second try at artificially hatching shrimp eggs with success!!!!! I collected about 8-9 eggs 3 weeks ago from a dead berried female and had 6 hatch this morning!!!
The 1st attempt I had all of the eggs eaten by the other shrimps because they werent protected, but this time around I sandwiched them into filter floss and let them sit in the tank by an airline for 3 weeks.

It's been a busy summer. New house, Busy Wedding Season, and now a new baby boy. So I havent had a chance to update much on here.
However here's a quick shot of the Crystals.

Re: Some updates on my Shrimp Breeding
thanks man, the season is winding down for me so I get to pay a bit more attention to the hobby again. =)
I started a 40B in July and it was a total failure and lost most of these plants due to algae and no maintenance. =/
But I spent a few hrs scrubbing things away and get lights and ferts back into balance so i hope to get the planted tank back in shape in the next few weeks.

Re: Some updates on my Shrimp Breeding
Is this called a "shrimp pile"? Nice thread binbin. 1st time I've really looked it over from front to end. Beautiful shrimp you have. Congrats on all the wonderful new things in your life. Lots of changes but the look to be all for the good. And home and family always come before hobby. Nice to see you backbinbin9 wrote:[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
