A couple of newbies
I got a couple newbies growing out... so I had to snap a few bad, blurry pics for you guys.
A new midas in the 56g. It is so stinking mean, it is not a keeper. I have some others growing out with it that are much more easy going.

A new Rhino Pleco in the 56g, trying to get size on it to put in the 210g.

A new firemouth, common but they do look good when they color up.

A new Argentea, very calm, Im liking this guy already.

A perspective shot of the newbies and my hoga. Yup they are small but no issues.

Re: A couple of newbies
Thanks.
The real surprise for me has to be the little "midas" that came from The Wet Spot in Portland. I have never seen such nasty aggression in so small a fish. It goes after the hopplo cat that is 5 times its size but it leaves the rhino pleco alone which is its size.
I did not get pics but I have 3 "red devils" in the tank that are from APFP (Mel O. fry). Talking with madness, who knows Mel, these are most likely also midas. The behavior of these are totally different. I know they are half the size of the orange one and have not got their color yet but they do not show the nasty aggression (yet). They get chased pretty bad by the other one.
With what I see so far the orange Midas will never go into the 210g community tank. It would make a great solo wet pet but I dont have a tank for it. So when it gets a bit of size on it... it will go up for sale.

Re: A couple of newbies
Ever sice the new LED lighting in the 210 I seem to get more algae growth, so I wanted a pleco that would stay under 1 foot and do a halfway decent job on it. I have a bristle nose in there now but Ive always wanted a rhino.
I used to have a beautiful wild caught Argentea and lost it when I had the bad outbreak about a year ago. Glad to have another one in the tank.

The Pearsei is probably 9" or so. I believe its a girl and she is extremely outgoing. She constantly begs for food and watches me as I come in the room and leave.

Its basically an Oscar in Pearsei skin.
They are know to get HUGE but are gentle giants. Males can get 17", Females about 14". Im still waiting for my replacement Pearsei to come in... still trying to raise out my monster male pearsei.

Very nice D. You should post more pics your good at it. All of the new adds look promising. How big is that Hog now? And Porky looks really nice. Wish you would have grabbed the other one.

Re: A couple of newbies
I see that hoga every day and it never looks to have grown. But Im positive it must be about 7" and the Pearsei at least 9". The new fish are settling in nice and I love the little Argentea, brave as can be, out and about looking for food.
So far Mels little 'devils' are totally calm and easy compared to the midas the wife picked up for me. I hope to get a nice big bull male out of one.

Most of Mels fish are getting very old. I dont believe that the Festae spawn any more. The big Midas is I believe 15 years old and his Dovii is up there also. The last time we had the Cichlid meeting at his place he said that he and his wife were retiring here soon, and that he was done buying any more fish. So as these die of old age, he wont be replacing them. That Chancho in the video is all of 16" too. So when he finally retires, I have dibs on his 1000 gal.
