I recently moved 100 miles and only lost 1 fish to the move. I downsized by half of my tanks and put some of the plants from a sold tank into my betta bow. Here is a close up of my betta under a floating anubia nana (does this have to be tied down to something or can I leave it as it is - she likes to rest on it):

anubias need to be anchored... but they prefer to sit right at the waters surface. they will actually throw off blooms if partially submerged. either lower the water level or find a log or something to stick it on.

Anubis will still grow , untied. The leafs just tend to grow In the direction of light, so they can start looking un kept. But they grow best tied to something.

I'm thinking about anchoring it to a small terracotta planter that's in there now. It has lace java fern anchored on it at the moment, but I don't like the look of it anyway. It's too bad it needs to be anchored. I really like it at the top. It's pretty, fills out the top, and gives my betta a place to rest.
