Coffee Cups in Cichlid Tank

My boyfriend was wondering about putting coffee cups in the tank for them to hide in, is this okay to do? If they are rinsed off thoroughly, maybe soaked in plain hot water for a while? He would like some input and it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I dont think the coffee cups will cause any harm to the tank
but terra cotta pots will look better in your tank and cichlids like them a lot

Its your tank. Just make sure they are clean with no soap residue. Most coffee cups are made for acidic liquids which means the coating will not leach into the water to cause a problem.

Sidekicking, everything else in the tank is white and it looks killer so he's wanting to stick with the white cups. There are terra cotta pots in the malawi they don't really mess with them much though. It's kinda weird.

Coffee cups, plates, bowls, as long as no soap or chemicals your fine.

I think it would like kind of cool. Natural looking tanks are great, but I like to keep one fun tank too, with some sort of unnatural decor.

You can see some interesting tanks with plates & silverware in them down at Liams in Seattle. Gotta get there after lunch time though.
