Tropheus - Bulu Point "cherry spots"
I've had these since early August. I purchased a group of 20, but several of them were in bad shape in the bags -- I lost six in the first couple of days. The rest were fine and have even been spawning, so I'm working on getting the numbers back up to where they should be.

Those have to be the nicest Trophs I have ever seen. I like them!

Betty do you think you'd ever be willing to sell any of the fry? I believe my boyfriend may want some of these if so. They are absolutely gorgeous!

Shorty, they wouldnt go really well at all in a mixed african tank.... tropheus need a colony of 10 of more.. My brother tried to keep a single tropheus with his mallawii tank, and everyday had to pull a dead fish out cause he was so mean.
betty - I really think thoughs guys have the best coloring of any cherry spots Ive ever seen.... very very nice! and I tend to think the black tropheus variants are the ugliest.

Thank you!
The ugliest, sand? I love the black variants.
Shorty, sand is right about mixing them. I really think they would do best in a large colony. These cherry spots are pretty aggressive with each other. I'm not making any effort to save fry; just letting the females spit in the tank, so it will be a while before there are extras. I can only find four newly spit fry, but it's really cool to see the behavior of the mom protecting her little ones.

Ive never had any of my fish spit in there tank for fear the mother would get to agggressive in protectin her young... plus I know the survival rate is way more when stripped... but I can see how it would be cool to watch them just like the way they would act in nature.
Good luck with them, hope you get some fry to sell soon.
Moorii, Reds, are my fav... followed by blacks then brichardi, so I guesss there not the least fav. but low on my list.... your cherry spots are definetly makin it hard to say that though.

Thanks sand! I'm not wanting to sell any fry, I'll be happy to get my numbers back up to recover those I lost in the beginning.
It seems I'm in the minority when it comes to stripping -- I don't do it unless I feel the mother's health is at risk and then only if I don't have a holding tank available. Since I don't sell fry, I don't worry about maximum survival of fry.
I really like the reds too. Wish I had a fish room!
