55 gallon advice
I got this 55 gallon on Craigslist; it came with a stand, 2 filters, a heater and other various things. I'm looking for someone to ease my concerns or tell me I shouldn't use it lol

Has some chips on the corners:

Silicone is pretty good, but is lifting in some places:

No center brace:

For $30 I thought I'd give it a try, but if you guys think I shouldn't use it let me know. It does not leak.

It doesn't loOk like it ever had a center brace. Can you look along the front or back and see any bowing in the glass?
Seals look good.

If there is no leak, no bowing I would say yeah, you are goOd to go. However, I am not responsible for anything that can happen. I am making a judgement call by your information and the picture provided.

Nope. It had a center brace. The original owners probably broke it by lift it in middle. I wouldn't use it IMO. If you're NOT gonna use sell it as a reptile or fuzzy animal tank. Keep the fishy stuff. Sell it cheap as reptile/fuzzy animal friend tank.

Re: 55 gallon advice
The bottom has a center brace. But look at the top front center and top back center, both are missing a piece that were the brace was attached to.

Re: 55 gallon advice
If it were a garage tank where nothing could be damaged I might consider using it. But if it were coming inside then no way. It is missing the center brace and the chips on the edges are likely spots where water pressure could give and start leaking. I would sell the tank for cheap ($20 or so) and put that money toward a new 55g when Petco has the $1 per gallon sale. Keep the stand and other goodies.

Could make it into a paludarium.
Here's a thread link from MFK that is awe inspiring.

Re: 55 gallon advice
Anybody who has worked with glass knows that those edge chips are long horizontal cracks just waiting to happen! Silicone seal is parted in bottom pic. Not safe for water.
