Dwarf Gourami Male - Terrible Father?
So apparently our Dwarf Gourami's are breeding (not planned, so just right in our 100 gallon). I went to do a water change this evening, and noticed him building a bubble nest. After a bit of watching, I see him and a female mate, eggs are released, and he went around scooping them up, as I've read he would do. Then I waited for him to deposit them in the nest. And waited. And waited.
He then bred with the other female, and started scooping those eggs up, still without having made any effort to deposit the first batch. He's on spawn 4 now, and between his apparently very poor threat analysis (Chasing away the females constantly, but allowing the Rummy Nose Tetra to dart around and gobble eggs), and ADHD, I don't know if a single egg has actually made it into the nest.
Is this common for first time breeders to just suck at it? Or did I get a particularly terrible father?
