New from Edmonds
Hello!
Keeping tropical freshwater fish is one of my oldest and consistent hobbies. I grew up in Shoreline, Washington and started when I was 10 years old with a 10 gallon aquarium, 3 blue skirted tetras from The Fish Store in Roosevelt and have been hooked ever since. Started up a 29 gallon a few years later and kept a pair of angels and a school of black neons. When I was 17 a friend of mine sold me his 75 gallon set up and I have since been keeping discus among other various tetras and community fish. Another thing that started with my 75 gallon tank was my interest in planted tanks.
Today I have the 75 gallon (used as display tank in my living room) a 20 gallon in the bedroom and set up a 4 gallon cube tank 3 weeks ago, all are planted tropical freshwater. The 75 gallon has a home made 130 watt 48" LED light fixture on two timers, one for blue led's only, rest for daylight. I used a mixture of White 6000k's Red's a few green and blue LED's to get the desired color rendering I was looking for. This tank has 6 discus, 4 angels, and a large various school of tetras. 20 gallon has a school of cardinals and a male beta. the 4 gallon has 4 guppies in it (for establishing the tank for now) until I decide what to do with it long term, I'm thinking about getting into the shrimp portion of the hobby. I have a blueberry shrimp that is hiding out in my 20 gallon right now.
Pics!
Older photo of the 75 gallon
Most recent picture, without the cover on, you can see my custom LED lamp, I'm going to make a newer version soon with all of the electronics inclosed.
Shot of the 20 gallon.
Here's the 4 gallon cube. I had a custom top made at tap plastics in Lynnwood for a grand total of $17
None of my friends locally are into the hobby like I am anymore, but it looks like I am far from alone! :-)

Welcome and sounds like you have a great fishy background. Great looking tanks. When you make your new enclosed LED light you will have to share it as a DIY project with us.

Re: New from Edmonds
Thank you all for the welcome.
I do intend on doing a DIY write up when I build the new LED fixtures. I'll even be including pictures of the progress.

Heeeeey, you made it onto WaFishBox! Nice to see you on here
I remember you showing me those pictures of the lights you made, those are really neat, I hope you get that heating issue resolved when you add some fans on it!

Re: New from Edmonds
yep! Finally sat down at the computer long enough. I am actively working on the project for a new LED light fixture. I think I'm going to do them in 24" sections just to standardize it, make them link-able, etc. Hardest part is making the housings, and making them look good.
