MRTom and Betty: Thanks, yeah I'm hoping this isn't going to douse our Holiday Spending Monies for gifts. I hate not being able to get people I love stuff... granted, it's all materialistic stuff, and that's not exactly what the holidays are about. But, still. :\

Re: So, this happened.
Glad you are ok. I'm hoping your deductible is nice and low..... Being a Toyota guy myself (2000 4runner, 94 land cruiser, and a 78 land cruiser) I have found that Toyota vehicles not only hold their value but they also hold their value on their replacement parts $$$$$. Good luck, and from my recent oops, I can offer the advice of using your insurance companies preferred repair shops. It will be cheaper for you in the long run

Re: So, this happened.
We've got state farm insurance, from what I understand, we just pay the $250 deductible and they will cover the rest. Insurance rate will probably sky rocket though. They also cover 80% for rental car fees.
Re: So, this happened.
State Farm is pretty nice to deal with. You should be just fine. Sorry to hear about the accident but glad your OK. You might still want to consider stopping at a chiropractor or massage therapist, you probably will feel a soreness now that a bit of time has passed. Your body probably seriously tensed up when it happened.

Re: So, this happened.
When I got in a wreck last may, State Farm covered it, and my rates went up only 8 dollars a month on the one vehicle ..... As I lost my accident free discount. I also learned that you get your vehicle back quicker when using a repair shop off of their preferred list. I also had my catalytic converter stolen off another vehicle and I went with a shop that State Farm didn't approve of and it was a pain in the you know what...... State Farm will do right by you, at least in my experience. And the main thing is that you aren't hurt! Well maybe your pride in your driving, but not physically, anyways ;-)PokeSephiroth wrote:We've got state farm insurance, from what I understand, we just pay the $250 deductible and they will cover the rest. Re: So, this happened.
It's odd... I'm kinda sore in some spots, like my arms and legs, but I think it's soreness from work. Cory works me like a workhorse! LOL!!! =P
Kidding aside, thank you everyone, for your support and concern! I'm actually more worried about my fish in the garage. The water temp is around 62*F, but they're still all holding on, I have no idea how I'm pulling this off. I just. don't. get. it.

Start tossing blankets over the tanks and sump! Keep the heat in!PokeSephiroth wrote:It's odd... I'm kinda sore in some spots, like my arms and legs, but I think it's soreness from work. Cory works me like a workhorse! LOL!!! =P

(note: do not let blanket touch water- water could wick out )

Re: So, this happened.
Unfortunately, there are blankets and towels over the tanks, but it's still not doing much good. The garage just isn't as insulated as I had hoped.
I also had to take out one of the heaters so I could place it in the 100 gallon tank temporarily. So that's also a factor as to why the water temps are low, because the sump now only has two, instead of three.
I hope do some re-arranging, tomorrow so I can get that third heater back in the sump, and out of the 100 gallon.

Ouch man, at least you're ok. We've been lucky down here in Fed way, no snow or ice that I've seen and I drive late evening/early mornings.

Re: So, this happened.
My garage tanks are cold too. Think I will try insulating mine with some styrofoam...., I tried to heat my garage with an electric heater but it pulled too much power and tripped the breaker.....I also added some buckets of warm water to each tank today ( even though I've heard that can be bad too) hope yours hold on just as much as I hope mine do too

Re: So, this happened.
I'm currently doing the heater in the garage trick, and it seems to be doing pretty well, hopefully I don't run into circuit breaker issues. I've already insulated my tanks as best as I could so, I just hope that this will do the trick.
Good luck to both of us! Hahaha

Re: So, this happened.
So, got a call from State Farm, and they said that the estimate for repairing the hood and bumper was going to be $3,240, luckily State Farm covers that, and we're only paying $250 out of pocket. They said it would take about a week to repair.
Rented a car, and State Farm mentioned that they would cover 80% of the overall cost, so basically we just pay about $5 a day to rent a car. Not bad. They lent me a white 2012 Chevrolet Malibu. Gaaaaaaay....
So many buttons and stuff, it's...all...so...confusing! Hahaha!!

that's the funniest thing ive seen all day!
fwiw, I was kinda lost in thought today and ran a red light on southcenter parkway & strander. fortunately, the traffic turning in the intersection had more presence of mind than I did, otherwise I would've ended up much worse than you poke!

Re: So, this happened.
it was a bumper to bumper accident. Other car had a bike rack, which severely bunched up my hood, but left my bumper only scratched with some dents.
Had the other car not had the bike rack, I don't think I would have suffered as much damage.
$3,200 for hood and bumper replacement, and whatever other parts need to be fixed (latch that holds the hood, etc... whatever. Cars... not my thing. LOL)

Re: So, this happened.
MRTom: the car's License plate is 418VCK . . . . so, I named it Vick. Hahaha
it's funny too, because the 418 also works as a pneumatic device for me, as my birthday and Mark's birthday is on April 1st, and 8th. ( 4-1-8 ) Hahaha
Totally makes the license plate so much easier to remember.
