Bichir info
For those that have or thinking about getting one. They can jump out of your tank. Lost mine today... he must have found that small opening near my HOB. Was about 6" and one of my favorite fish. I could even feed him by hand.

Re: Bichir info
Bichirs and Ropefish are notorious escape artists that can escape out of the smallest spaces. They can live for many hours out of the water. After they have been out of the water for awhile they dry out like a mummy but if they haven't been out of the water too long from what I hear you can put them back in the water and rehydrate them so to speak. From what I read the scales constrict and give the aperance of being dried out but they are saving moisture for the organs. I have not had any jump out yet(knock on wood) every night I hear them smacking the glass tops. Sometimes living in oxygen poor puddles as a river dries up launching themselves out of water looking for a bigger puddle or food. Sorry about your fish the best way to get over it is to get a new one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
