Tough as nails! Empty Tough as nails!

Post  Lamental Jester 2013-10-28, 21:38

Let's hear it for my rainbow shark.  Who yesterday decided to swim up my water siphon while changing the water when I wasn't looking, clogged the tube (took at least ten minutes before I realized it was clogged), and spills a good 4 feet onto the floor when I pull the siphon out to see why it clogged.  I immediately put him back in the tank, but wasn't doing a lot of moving, so I just hoped for the best, but didn't keep my hopes high.  So I get home from work today, expecting to see a dead or almost dead fish.... but no!  He's swimming around like nothing happened, waiting for dinner!

Lol...

I once gave a face hickey to an ornate poly, he got his head stuck in the siphoned tube!

Glad your Redtail pulled through okay! Very Happy

Lucky shark! When I find one out of the tank, I gently move it back and forth in the water to get some moving through their mouths/gills.  It's worked a few times. Very Happy

Thanks for the advise Betty! Hopefully there wont be next time though, haha. I've had this guy for about 5-6 years now, so obviously I was quite relieved to see him being back to his normal self. I think from now on I'm gonna rubberband a fish net over the intake of my siphon.

haha, yeah, platies aren't typically the sharpest tools in the shed, I have the same problem with shrimp, they'll try to swim right up the tupe
