Re: Just for you Photaholics
Thank you...... I will be taking a few mre later today. Within the next few weeks I should have some really nice pictures. I recently purchased some fish and a tank from a Craigslister, turns out that she is an inspiring photographer, and is trying to get her business up and going. She asked if she could come shoot my tanks/fish to get more practice and to broaden her portfolio. So she will be taking some pics here soon.MRTom wrote:Oh dear... thank you sir, may I have some more?
Nope not at all. That polypterus shot turned out great. He is the more rare Teugelsi. He is over twice the size of when I bought him just a couple months ago. A pricey Poly but so far the color and pattern has been well worth it.fishNAbowl wrote:Very nice Maddness, although I love the Festae - I am going to use picture #3 as a screen saver for a while. These shots came from 7 different tanks. I have 21 more tanks to shoot today.Fishy Guy wrote:Those are awesome. How big of a tank is that?
The tanks in the pictures are a 300 x 2, 75 x 2, 40 breeder x 2, and a 285.

Very nice; beautiful fish. I like the bichir and the (I think) electric blue jack dempseys.

Re: Just for you Photaholics
yea I thought female but the color had me second guessing myself. I didn't know what kind of umbee it was. She will make a great breeder and a great looking fish period.

Re: Just for you Photaholics
Mmmmm... Those electric blues are out of this world, I really like them. If i ever get into cichlids, those will be one to shoot for, although after reading around online about them, it seems like you need to get a good local breeder if you want good stock. Their heartiness seems to vary a lot between breeders, so people say, and you can get some really crappy, sickly electric blues, or if you look around some really nice ones like you have there. I really like that yours have a bright bright blue rather than the more royal blue you see in some pics of them.
I suppose that is the case for most fish, though it's probably easier to tell with such a beautiful fish.
Do they terrorize plants, or have you tried any out with them?

Re: Just for you Photaholics
Thanks, they are far more amazing than I expected. The breeder is really into harnessing not only a beautiful Dempsey but a more hardy one with stronger genetics and immune system. With these guys its clean water and good food.LuminousAphid wrote:

I would assume they are just like the other Dempseys or Cichlids, they would destroy the plants.

Re: Just for you Photaholics
@Madness, so... I notice some "Electric blue Dempsey's" with a dark blue coloration, yours are real light in color. I really like the deep dark blue EBJD's . Will these that you have darken up or will they stay this lighter blue into adulthood?Madness wrote:Thanks, they are far more amazing than I expected. I believe they do darken a bit as the mature, not to the real dark blue but more of right in between the light blue and dark blue.fishNAbowl wrote:@Madness, so...
