Blue Tetra Fighting/Spawning?
Hey everyone, I have a video for you and a question about this behavior-
Are these tetra fighting or breeding?
Near the end you can really see them better.
To me it looks like 2 males fighting, because they both took on a really vibrant pink coloring to their tail and anal fins, and it actually looked to me like they were trying to bite each other. I don't know if anyone has experience with this exact species, but have you seen anything like this with other tetras? You can't really see it, but the other tetra besides the 2 don't have the pink coloration in their fins.

Yeah my silver tip tetras did that. Not only to each other but other tankmates. Nipping each other and other tankmates. Had only 2 silver tips in there. I know you need more than 4 but got them free. They are gone now. Fed them to the Africans. Cycle of life.

ya ive had silver tips before as well, they just picked on each other far too much unless you stock them heavily. id suggest rehoming them or getting more and placing them in a larger tank. (they look like silver tips to me, not "blue tetras") but thats just my opinion. gl in your choices

I have African red-eyed tetras...sometimes they do the same thing. I have a group of 7 of them. I'm not sure if there are both males and females in the group but I do see them fighting like this at times.
