Cory - I've always wanted a Koi looking Betta, and if you can get one in you can bet I will buy it!  I've only seen them online. I'm just the Wild Type betta guy normally so i'm not sure how easy these are to find...well I'm sure you can find anything for a price.  Razz

Here is a great example:

This fish went for $50 on Aquabid (came from Thailand)...however it lists one of the transhippers as a Jeff Wilson (WA) with his email address that I won't post.

Yeah a $50 fish from Thailand is going to be $100+ with shipping. You have to ship it twice, and pay the transhipper fees.

But that betta is neat. I'll be on the lookout for some. Never seen it before.

Woah that is a cool looking betta 0.o and you look like you have some nice stock in them too Cory :)now if only I could re-find the best guy I've ever seen but didn't have space for.....pure black body with bright red fins and a huge attitude lol he was making faces all both the betta near him and me lol
edit: also love that it's not one of the giant finned guys that are really prone to finrot but uber popular. I always feel bad for those guys cause it looks like their fins are going to topple them over sideways

Talked to someone who has been recently winning awards in the IBC contests. They say no one in the USA is working with Koi bettas. They'd be import only.... so I'm still looking.

Crying or Very sad  well that makes since as i'm seeing them from Thailand.

And from what I read about breeding programs, especially bettas, there is such a huge group of people who breed and have them in Asia that there are bound to be many more options over there.

That being said, all it takes is someone over here to get two prized fish to breed and start making money. Someone like the best LFS in the state...with the best Bettas too...Rolling Eyes

Here is another great one from the same guys in Thailand via Aquabid.  This one is more reasonable at $20 bid...so far that is.

I will try to get in some good photos of the bettas at the shop on the days, that I work (assuming that I'm not doing anything else), Having them flare up is the best way to get a picture of their finnage. Very Happy

There are so many beautiful bettas.  The variety astounds me.  Love the look of those Koi bettas and those white/black/blue are gorgeous too.

Here's a beauty...marbled seems to be the rage now

Sorry...editing as this is probably off topic..ok to remove. I just saw the other beauties and wanted to add one...LOL

NOW this could make some serious bankrather quickly since they're not being bred here yet o.o sell maybe 4 babies and get your money back on the origional pair or two and each set has got to be a lot larger then that o.o now here's one to breed if you wanna go in Very Happy I keep staring at my male trouble maker and wishing I could breed him because he's silver and black with some purple but I've never seen a female like him or even close. Now......breeding mmmmm funnnn but seriously I've always wanted to do these fish.
