Here is my original introduction
http://www.wafishbox.com/t28-im-from-tacoma
A lot has changed since then, but I just figured, I would start with this.
Currently, I have 10 aquariums. Its to much to fit in my signature, sobi will post it here.
180, rio coloradito
4x Amphilophus lyonsi
3x Asthaheros altifrons
1x green phantom plec
150 soon to be 500, crater lakes
2x Parachromis managuense
2x Amphilophus sp. Xiloensis
3× Amphilophus sp. Red isletas
150, rio motagua
6x Chuco micropthalmus
10x Parachromis motaguense
120, Lago izabal
40x Thorichthys aureus
3x Xiphophorus mayea
40B holding tank
currently holding Herichthys bocourti
20L planted
Ferns (trident, needle leaf, regular java)
Anubias (nana x, some big one)
5x Xiphophorus nezahualcoyotl
12x C125
5x otto
20L tanganyika
5x Neolamprologus multifasciatus
3x julidochromis marlieri
29 rio Coatzacoalcos
4x Thorichthys maculapinnis
waiting on Gracilis
40B grow out
12x Chuco micropthalmus
5x Thorichthys passionis
3x Thorichthys meeki
40B grow out
Xiphophorus mayea
Thorichthys maculapinnis
some java fern and anubias
I have been doing this for a long long time, I am not limited to one type of fish or tank. I have kept reefs, plants (still learning) and various community, and cichlid tanks. I would say if I have a specialty, it is biotopes. For a definition of what a biotope is.
biotope (b-tp)A usually small or well-defined area that is uniform in environmental conditions and in its distribution of animal and plant life.
I also have a BIG passion, for aquascaping, and dread the flower pot, or blue gravel methods
Thanks for looking.

Nice selection of Thorichthys. Asthaheros species are always under rated, so good job giving them some space.

How are the lyonsi doing? I still have two from you( I gave two to a friend in e. Wa) two unfortunately died at the mouth of my biggest one and my other one of the two I just got back. From addicted2ca.... Mine have some nice colors but the rank up there with festae as some of the slowest growing cichlids I've ever had!

Re: Here is my original introduction
@dwarfpike. I agree, Thorichthys are by far my favorite family of cichlid. I would have every species if I had the space. Asthaheros are also very cool, and I have been thinking of getting more because my 3 are all male.
@lloyd. They are doing very well, I will soon be moving them into a 125 gallon in my bedroom. Strange you are having slow growth with them. I sent 8 of them to my mom in Arizona about a week before you got yours, and her smallest is 5" with largest just under 7". They have spawned several times since then, but I haven't pulled fry, so, they get munched up by tank mates little by little. Although the ones they have now are quite larger then the other ones got before they disappeared. Maybe mom and dad are finally figuring it out.
@D, yeah, continuous growth. The 500 is going to be awesome, and I cant wait to start on it. I will do a thread on the progress when the time comes.

Re: Here is my original introduction
I've had my in a 125 almost the whole time and addicted had his in a 160...... The biggest one I have is around 3.5 inches. Might be my lower temps or the fact that they are lower on my tanks pecking order.. But I'm glad to hear that yours are still doing great.

Re: Here is my original introduction
I 2nd the pictures...please share. Always love seeing biotope tanks...they inspire me. But it seems every time I get the idea of doing one something comes along that changes that plan...LOL. Oh well, my "community" tanks are growing but I'm learning about mixing fish ... different lakes, personalities, foods, etc. So all is good but I still yearn for that perfect biotope tank. Please...INSPIRE us!!!

Re: Here is my original introduction
Just spent over an hour typing out my latest 120 gallon project with pictures, and went to to send it and start a new topic, in the journal section, and it said I cant post external links as a new member for 7 days. So, I either wait, or one of the admins can allow me to. Sorry, either way, I copied and saved it as a word document, so I wont have to rewrite it again, just copy and paste it over, or, have access granted now while I have the screen still up on my computer, and I can try again.

Oh, how about admins? Because I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's what it said. Oops, n/m just tried, "new members are not allowed to post external links or emails for 7 days. Please contact the forum administrator for more information. "

Re: Here is my original introduction
Welcome back, it seems like you have a lot of knowledge to share with all of us (especially beginners like me) so it's good to see that you're making a re-appearance.
Looking forward to seeing some of your biotope tanks, I would like to do one someday
