Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
Hey lloyd378! I know that there will be a few shrimp breeders at the SWAP, billHN, Tania (can't remember her fishbox name), and Shango... so I'm counting on there being at least cherries, blue velvets, and yellows. If you're just starting out in shrimp keeping, I would recommend cherries, they will be the least expensive.
On another note, I will be there with about 35 lbs worth of manzanita wood, works well for shrrrrrump scaping, and any other aquascaping... Picard says come and get it
PS- So far, according to the Weather Channel's 10-day forecast, we're looking at a sunny day in the high 60's with 0% chance of rain that weekend, yay!

Does anyone want gold fish? I went to pick up an "empty" 55 gal tank this morning when I got there the tank was in the driveway, it was totally full of water, and it had 2 gold fish in it!

Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
Wow, they left it full eh? How nice of them... NOT! LOL... If you're looking to unload them ASAP, you can try donating them to a LFS that sells gold fish

Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
LJ: Can't you like... print out your avatar and put it on your first gen nametag? Be a proud owner of a first gen nametag, those things are like...limited edition. lol.
Aron will prolly pick up the tags, but you're more than welcome to come by and get them. Stargrass, yes, I can bring some, but you will either have to come by the store tomorrow or on Friday, because those are the only days I work (unless you go to the store Saturday morning).
You wanna trade some manzanita wood for them plants I gave/I'm going to give you? I need more manza wood, and none of the manza wood at the store is the right kind I want/need. I also still have some light diffusing paper, I was just kickin' your balls....marimo balls. Ahem. =P

Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
wellllll, the star grass you already owe me for the hydrocotyle tripartita. And I'm just jerking your chain about making me a new nametag. For manzanita, you looking for ones to fit in those super nanos you've been making right? Can't come up tomorrow cause that's the GSAS meeting, I can come up friday evening though, I'll look through my wood horde and bring up any I find that can work for your nanos.

Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
Right, as for the manza wood, I can use any size, I just need them to be REALLY REALLY INTRICATE looking. Like, super branch with twiggy-twigs. Anything like that would work.
We do have "nano sized" manzanita wood, but they're not as "intricate" as I want them to be, because the really intricate ones already sold. lol.

hmmmmm, most of mine are "driftwood" style, but I might have a few twiggy ones that would work, I'll show you on Friday, and I can grab the nametags too if needed

Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
Granted, I don't know when the next swap is ... but if I remember correctly, Ron tries to do them every three months or so.
Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
Thanks Wes!
To everyone who owns a 1st Gen Nametag, YOU HAD BETTER WEAR THEM AT THE SWAP, OR ELSE YOU WILL COME HOME TO FLOATING FISH!!! Bwaaahahahaha!!!
Ahem, joking aside, yes...it would be nice if you wore your nametags, as making them does take quite a bit of my time, and I would feel really butt hurt if people ended up just wearing them for one day and then trashing them/losing them afterwards. that would make me a saaaaad panda.

you wouldn't want me to be a sad panda...would you?

I would like to point out the the SWAP is on Saturday the 14th, even though the fishbox calender has it listed for Friday the 13th! I don't know about you, but I don't want that one hockey-masked, machete-weilding, psychopath ruining my SWAPy fun!

Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
Looking forward to seeing all you folks this weekend. Thanks to Ron and Aron for hosting the event.
Hey Poke, you were mentioning looking for aquarium wood. Gigi and I are bringing some pretty epic wood. We are bringing super rare branch canker Madrona. This is the most top branches of a diseased Madrona species we have here on Vashon Island. The disease is bad for the tree but looks awesome in the aquarium. The lead researcher on branch cankers even keeps it in her own aquarium. Gigi and I will have a bunch of this that we cut, cleaned and cured ourselves. We will have a two page info sheet at the swap so folks know how to work with this exotic wood, where it comes from and what branch cankers are. I keep this in all my tanks now.
We will have nano size all the way up to pieces for 200+ gallon aquariums. It is all priced to sell because we don't want to bring it home. There are two pics below of the wood but lots more I shot quickly here if you are interested: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shangolos/sets/72157635468063205/
Also pictured below is an array of the rare leaves, barks and other organic aquarium care that we have hunted down and imported to share. We will have bags of all that stuff and more.
We are bringing something else special too. I infused cane cholla with flame moss and have been letting it grow in for a couple months. I had heard that these SASwap meets are pretty awesome so we planned ahead to bring our A-game. =)
We'll have more surprises too as well as our shrimp t-shirts and of course, Gigi's Wonderfood.
I am so stoked we will have sunny 75 degree sunny weather Saturday!
See you soon
Shango

VernalPond: I don't think I was the one looking for any driftwood at the moment, but that stuff does sound awesome! Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the swap, as I will be manning the store (Aquarium Co-Op) that day. hehehe
Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
Oh, sorry Poke. I misunderstood above when you said "Right, as for the manza wood, I can use any size, I just need them to be REALLY REALLY INTRICATE looking. Like, super branch with twiggy-twigs. Anything like that would work. Very Happy"
I was looking forward to seeing you Saturday but rockin the Co-Op is a righteous way to spend the day for sure. Maybe we'll see you at the November GSAS auction.

@VernalPond & everyone else,
Wow, this list just put the " YOU CAN'T GET ANYWHERE ELSE " factor into this swap! all I am saying here is if anyone is teeter tottering on the idea of going to this event this should have just pushed you off the fence. These goodies are designed to bring that natural habit into our aquariums, in turn helping making happy pets :)Thank you Shango & Gigi

Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
Say whaaaa I thought he usually has it like once every (i don't even know when, it feels like it's been forever).PokeSephiroth wrote:Granted, I don't know when the next swap is ... but if I remember correctly, Ron tries to do them every three months or so.
I still have that first gen name tag :]
I actually have it in the front of my car xD I see it every morning when I drive hahahahahahah
That being said!
This swap meet is going to be OFF THE CHAINNNNN
I can't wait to see all of the awesome stuff everyone's bringing!#!@#!@#!@#!@# I'm blowing through so many ideas for how we're gonna setup the tables O_O
I also still remember the clown fish and the (idk what you call it, I'll just say shroom) in that bucket last time! That was awesome!
Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
Someone back in this thread was asking if I have the next Swap scheduled yet. No I don't. But will keep Wafishbox posted as it gets planned.
Tanks for asking.
Looking forward to seeing old faces and meeting new ones tomorrow. It'll be different having it outside this time.
I'm adding a 55g and a 50g tank to my list of items to bring priced to sell. Will need some cleaning but wil be a good bargain.

But weird, I don't remember making you one, I thought you asked for one after the swap, ... well not you have two. XD!!
Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
Well, I know you asked for one after the swap, but for some reason I thought I never gave it to you yet. Weird. I can't think of a time where you and I met after the swap, unless it was that time when we met up with pbmax when I bought CPDs from him that one time... anywho, yours is a mixup between first gen and 2nd gen. It's the same size as a 2nd gen nametag, but looks like a first gen nametag. If you look at the previous posts in this topic, you will see your "newer" one in one of the two pictures.
Re: Seattle Aquarium Swap
Hi Ron,
Yes, I will have some shrimp but how many will be weather dependent on heat if I have to put them in a cooler. Most likely to make an appearance are Neon Orange, Blue Velvet, Snowballs and Total Red Cherries.
I've gotten out of CRS because they do not like my rural water. The Neocaridina davidii (heteropoda) on the other hand LOVES our mineral dense island aquifer water which is one of the reasons why they all have such saturated bright colors and hard carapaces. That was a really pleasant surprise to moving out here. I use an organic aquarium stewardship approach with all my breeding tanks so instead of responding to sick shrimp colonies, I keep all sorts of healing leaves and barks in the tank daily so they thrive and don't get sick to begin with. They are robust and without infected micro-fractures on the body.
Here are some recent pics of my shrimp for Nature Invincible.
Thanks for asking.

As we couldn't make it to swap...will some of you share how it went? I was thinking about it all day yesterday. We went and saw some hot air ballons take off, had breakfast with my dad and went to the farmers market. Although a good day I would have rather been in Seattle and sharing fish stuff. Shucks.
