queations for trimac lovers...
So I got this pair of true trimacs from madness a while back and she is healing up great but it seems like the male just wants to kill the female. He is relentless with picking on her. Just curious to see if this is normal, breeding rituals, or just straight hatrid? Any answers would be awesome. Thanks.
P.S. thanks madness these fish are beautiful besides the fighting.

Re: queations for trimac lovers...
Unfortunately, that is a trait common in Cichlids and especially Amphs. My only suggestion would be to put a divider in so that they can still see each other, until she is ready to spawn. Or provide her with a nice hiding spot. I had one of those reptile caves in their tank and she could fit but he couldnt, and she used that all the time.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Yea I made her a small rock cave she is hiding in right now but they seem to be doing the breeding dance lateley so I took out the devider I had in there and he does ok for a few and then he turns evil against her

you could also put in some convicts(or other hardy scapegoats) if you have a decent sized tank to see if you can fan out the aggression

Re: queations for trimac lovers...
hey I never thought of that, always wondered if there was a non cichlid fish for that. I tried it once with big tiger babrs that someone gave me, all I can say is................ don't use tiger barbs.. So are the silver dollars so fast they just get away?? or do they just know how to take a beating??and will 1 or 2 work or do you need a small school?? Sounds like a great idea!

Re: queations for trimac lovers...
I used 3 with my Festae pair, and they left them alone until they were ready to spawn, then they both tried to remove them. It gave the male something to focus on. They are very quick and stay up around the top of the tank, and dont try to eat the fry. My 3 lasted for 2 spawns, about 6 months, and then the male figured out how to attack them, and killed all 3 within a day of the first kill.
