Honestly regan, so far I wish that it was upstairs so i could stare at it all day long. That tank has become one of my favorites! I have a couple that pair off, addictedtofish told me that they have spawned a few times (unsuccesfull though). So i am pretty pumped about that... already got the 30gal out, so i can plant it and use it as the breeding tank! Answer to your question then is that its definely worth doing. Wish I wouldve done a planted tank along time ago, and the discus are fun too!

Re: I own some discus now as well ;)
Finally.. a NPT discus tank comment! Sorry I've been lurking so long.. and in fact don't even belong here! Virginia Virgin here .. I'm about a month in staging my soon to be discus tank... The plants have been in almost the whole time and now I think I've miss-planted based upon plant selections... 8 red wendtii, a crop of dwarf sag for the foreftont.. a few balansae and a solo Pontediriiflia.. (50g Tall)...and of course some surface drifters... Light light tan sand sub.. Now I'm thinking I should have gone with about a dozen or just less of Val clumps.. mostly bare sand except the random clumps... it should appeal to their profile and lil columns of clear water between the those plantings.. hey? Bill in Va.
