What happend to the metal gear link?

Anyways, every game has it's own right and fan base. Not to say a particular game is best overall.
I chose metal gear, due to it's long history and deep stories.
Going a long and killing people is some what entertaining, but playing metal gear; gives the player a sense as to why the killing is justified.
