Residents:
3 4" koi veil-tail angels

1 7" sailfin pleco ( to be moved to the 90 as soon as all is clear )
it's been an adventure....I will have to post in the blog section soon and tell how we end up here..with serious MTS and 2 + tanks..and a shopping list as long as the Oklahoma panhandle for things we need in order to set up an awesome possum qt and a planted 55 + for invertibrates ( lol) and more stuff for the 2 we have.

Welcome to WaFishBox!
Yay, someone else who still uses an undergravel filter with powerheads! That's pretty much the same setup I have, except I'm using two Maxi-Jet 1200's in my 55 gallon, along with a Marineland penguin bio filter whoop whoop!!

Re: new to site
I know right? But why waste a good 6 sq feet of biofilter? with the tank with the UGF as opposed to the one without..I have noticed the gravel vac is always cleaner. We do 25 to 30 % water changes every 2 weeks and with the plec in the smaller tank...and no UGF the gravel is nasty. BTW ..do you like the biowheel? I read mixed reviews. Aquaclear rated # 1 and Biowheel rated # 2 in BOT filters ( was looking at a prebuilt with LED lights that came with the Penguin )

Re: new to site
I love the biowheel! Mine is the Marineland Penguin 350 and I have two of them. I also have an aquaclear 70, which I'm still new with. I just set up the aquaclear about three days ago, so it's still building up a colony of bacteria
Re: new to site

OHHHHH! I got that too... That's the one where you start with one, end up with many... I did that. Was a pain cleaning all the tanks with my schedule. Im back down to 2 but daydream alot about a 300g tank... I miss my spot faced pike and peacock bass...

Re: new to site
MTS can also mean "Malaysian Trumpet Snails" . . . which I need some. LOL
BOT means, Back of Tank, I think... the more common term I'm used to is HOB (Hanging off Back) . . .

Re: new to site
Welcome exfishnoob.
If you're interested in sheding or acquiring fish, plant, and/or equipment, you might want to join us at the Seattle Area Aquarium SWAP next Saturday from 3-4 in Federal Way. It's the second one we''ve done. It's facilitated by Angelman=Aron, his wife=Lori, my wife=Linda and me=Ron. If you want a table, just come early and we'll set it up. (please let me know ahead of time). Last time we had a lot of fun and met with a lot of enthusiasts. Here's the link on FB.. https://www.facebook.com/AQUARIUMSWAP?ref=hl
Then next month at the Greater Seattle Aquarium Society, we hold our big general auction of the year. It goes on for the better part of a Saturday and is another fantastic event. The public is welcome here and to all our general meetings. HEre's our website www.gsas.org
Looking forward to seeing you here and at events....Ron

Hi exfishnoob,
Welcome to WA Fishbox; it is a great forum. If you have a chance check out the Greater Seattle Aquarium Society (GSAS), probably one of the best - most active aquarium clubs in the country! http://www.gsas.org/
